Football News: What team changes Chelsea FC should make in the 2018 Summer transfer window

With the summer transfer window and FIFA World Cup on the horizon, in order for Chelsea to compete with Manchester City and the footballing elite teams, some major changes are needed.

Manager:

With Conte looking to the door this summer a new manger is needed, in my opinion the next manager should be one that promotes attractive football and will integrate our Youth into the team, if Chelsea are set on not spending big money over the next few years it is integral that we start experimenting with Youth in the squad.

My pick would be be Jardim from Monaco, winning the league (against PSG) last season and winning it with players such as Mbape, Baka and Lamar shows that he is willing to give youngsters a chance. Him with Luis Campos as technical director and a former Chelsea player such as Ballack, Drogba or Lampard in the coaching staff would be amazing.

Squad:

This year has shown that our squad isn't as great as we hype it up to be, the influx of mediocre players and bargain buys is not something we should continue doing if we want long term success.

Outs:

Pedro or Willian or both. Pedro has reached the twilight of a great career and this year has proven that. Willian, though he has been on form this second half of the season, his inconsistency over the last three years has to be a factor, selling him now would give us money and free up space in the squad. If both are sold for £50-60m (combined) that would be great business for players near to 30 years old.

Drinkwater: Why he was bought still makes no sense to me!

Gary Cahill: This is tricky because he is the club captain, but he is nowhere near the player he once was.

Contracts:

Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois: They should sign new deals. People talk about players being bigger than the club, which is true, but if we are going to move forward as a club and attract great players we need great players in the squad. Kante and these two will attract top players to the team. without them our club doesn't have 'superstars' as attraction.

Cesc Fabregas: In my opinion, though Cesc hasn't been great this season. He still has a lot to offer the club. He would improve players around him especially young midfielders. Think about it like this, if RCL, Barker etc were learning from Lampard where would they be in their careers?

David Luiz: He should be given a contract extension if Cahill leaves as he offers leadership qualities which are lacking in the squad.

Wildcard Players:

Zapacosta and Moses; honestly are not good enough for the team.

Alanso: if a huge offer comes in we should sell and get a descent replacement in quick.

Ins:

To say we need a freshening up in the squad is an understatement.

Leon Bailey: He is one of the up and coming players of his generation, he is fan and a long time target. Though it is gamble, he might double his worth after the World Cup. He would offer a youthful energy to our wing.

Thorgan Hazard: His versatility and style of play would suit us, he offers goals and creativity which we need at the moment. Signing him would also ensure that Hazard stays.

Isco or James: This would be our marque signing, a statement signing that would say that we mean business, plus either of them linking with Morata and Hazard would be great to watch.

Defenders:

Splashing the cash on a centre back would be a waste of time. Zouma should be called back, if needs be, Ake can always be bought back as well.

Centre Midfield:

Not needed at the moment, many youngsters at the club and others on loan could come in as squad players.

Strikers:

Icardi: has been mentioned, but I don't think that will happen because we would need to meet his release clause.

Belotti (Torino) though he has been injured he would offer something different. Given he hasn't played, I'm sure Torino would accept a much lower fee than his release clause.

Balotelli: A wild card, but he is out of contract this summer and he is proven in the Premier League.

Youth and Loans:

Van Ginkel, Zouma, Boga should be given the chance in the team.

Mount, RCL, Barker and Tammy should go on loan again to clubs that allow them to express themselves and without the threat of relegation etc. With RCL coming into the team when Cesc leaves.

Chelsea FC Team for next year:

GK: TC and Willy

Defenders: Dave, Luiz, Rudiger, Christensen, Alanso, Emerson, Zapacosta, Moses, Zouma.

CM / DM: Kante, Baka, Cesc, Van Ginkel, Barkley

Forwards: Pedro / Willian, Isco / James, Hazard, Thorgan, Bailey, Boga, Hudson (making cameos).

Strikers: Morata, Giroud and Youth player or Batsman.
