Review of the Day

Cumbrians Release Eight

Carlisle United have released eight players after failing to win promotion from League Two. Despite manager Keith Curle also leaving in the summer, he had a hand in choosing which to let go. Reggie Lambe, Samir Nabi, John O'Sullivan, Morgan Bacon, Tom Miller, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Shaun Miller and Cameron Salkeld were the eight.

Twitter Like Causes Fans To Boo Player

Paris Saint-Germain right back Thomas Meunier has fallen out with fans after liking a picture of Marseille TIFO on Twitter. It has created a reaction on the pitch, where he was booed during PSG's 2-2 draw with Guingamp, despite his attempts to calm the storm by posting on Instagram: "My investment and passion for you [the PSG fans] is no less than 1000% percent, and liking what others may do in France should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES put into question my respect and desire to fight for the blue and red shirt." He has since deleted that post due to the response it received. On Friday he tried once again to calm things by saying: "Things need to be clear, I do not need to justify myself to anyone. Be it the 12 year old fans who are telling me to leave PSG or the so-called fans on twitter. This matter will be dealt with internally with those concerned, i.e. Le Collectif Ultra Parisien (one of PSG's ultra movements), who have always been behind the PSG players. They are the only ones I am indebted to."

Lopes' Suspension Increased

Lyon keeper Anthony Lopes has seen his suspension increased from three games to five for his part in a brawl at the end of a Ligue 1 match with bitter rivals Marseille. Marseille defender Adil Rami's three game suspension for his part in the brawl was confirmed.

Veteran Winger Given One Year Contract By Bayern

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has signed a one year contract extension with the Bavarian giants. The French star would have been out of contract at the end of the season. Ribery said: "I'm very happy that I'll get to play for this great club for another year. Munich has long since become home for me and my family and I'm therefore very proud that I'll be able to wear the FC Bayern shirt again next season."

Balotelli Caught On Camera In Rant At Referees

Italian striker Mario Balotelli was caught by French TV cameras in a foul-mouthed half time rant, in English, about French referees. Balotelli was clearly heard saying: "Every time, f***ing French referees, every time." Zlatan Ibrahimovic was caught in 2015 calling France "a s*** country" and given a 4 match ban despite apologising. It could mean that the controversial striker has played his last game for Nice, as he is set to leave them in the summer.
