Lampard Confirms Derby Talks

Frank Lampard has confirmed that he is in talks with Derby County as he seeks to embark on a management career. The former England midfielder retired from playing in 2017 and has made it clear that he wanted to move into management. Lampard told BT Sport, when asked about the reports he had applied for the Derby job: "I've been speaking to them. I am ambitious. I will carry on speaking to them when I get home. It's a big club with big history and I want to get into management."

 

Platini Urges FIFA To Lift His Ban

Just after admitting he fixed the draw for a World Cup, Platini now tells the world that his ban from football should be lifted. After Swiss prosecutors said that they had found no evidence, so far, to bring charges against him over a 1.8m euro payment that was received with no contract to show that it was owed, Platini has said he should have his suspension lifted.

 

Egypt Optimistic Salah Will Make World Cup

After Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah had suffered a 'really serious injury' when Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos threw him to the ground, the Egyptian FA have said they are 'optimistic' that their talisman will be fit for the summer's World Cup. Not confident, simply optimistic. The Egyptian FA say they believe the injury to be sprained ligaments in the shoulder.

 

Karius Apologises For Blunders

After his double error let in two goals and, in large part at least, led to a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has apologised. Karius said: "I don't feel anything right now. Today I lost my team the game. I feel sorry for everyone. I'm sorry for everyone, for the team, for the whole club. The mistakes cost us dearly. If I could go back in time I would. I just feel sorry for my team. I know I let them down today. It is very hard right now, but that is the life of a goalkeeper. You have got get your head up again. For now, I'm just really sorry for everyone that those goals cost us the title basically." Napoli offered their support to the German keeper and tweeted after the game: "Do not cry Loris Karius, a bad night can happen to everyone. Champion courage. A hug from Napoli."

 

Neymar Wants To Play For Pep

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has reiterated a desire to play under Pep Guardiola. The Brazilian midfielder was speaking in an interview on ESPN Brazil when he said: "I always hoped to one day work with Guardiola. He is a different type of manager. I arrived at Barcelona one year after his departure. I would like very much to work with him."

 

Coric In Roma For Medical

Dinamo Zagreb's young midfielder Ante Coric is in Rome to undertake a medical with a view to joining AS Roma this summer.

 

Ronaldo Suggest Renaming Champions League After Him

Despite a quiet night for the Portugese star, Cristiano Ronaldo has lifted his 5th Champions League trophy, becoming the first player to do so. He was also the top-scorer in this year's competition with 15 goals and now he wants the trophy renamed to something more suitable. Ronaldo said: "Who was the top-scorer once again? The Champions League should change and be called the CR7 Champions League. I have won five and I am the top goalscorer again, so I cannot be sad."
