Review of the Day

Transfers

Striker John Akinde has moved from Barnet to Lincoln City for the ever popular undisclosed fee.

Yet another undisclosed fee was spent by Brentford to bring Algerian international forward Said Benrahma in from OGC Nice.

Peterborough United have made a double signing of defenders. Josh Yorwerth has joined from Crawley Town for, yes you guessed it, an undisclosed fee, while Leeds United's Tyler Denton has arrive on loan for the season.

Another defender on the move is Luton Town's Akin Famewo, who has joined Grimsby Town on loan.

I am getting so bored of typing the two words 'undisclosed fee' but there is yet another one paid (£6.1m) by Nottingham Forest, in order to sign striker Lewis Grabban from Bournemouth. Going out from the Tricky Trees is midfielder Jorge Grant, who will be on loan for the season with Luton Town. Also leaving Forest is veteran Wales midfielder David Vaughan, who was allowed to leave at the end of the season, but has now agreed a deal with Notts County.

Sheffield United's young central defender Sam Graham is heading out on loan for the season. The 17 year old will spend the forthcoming season in League Two with Oldham Athletic.

Chelsea's loan army continues to stay vast in numbers, with England youth international Jordan Houghton heading out to MK Dons for the season.

Bury have strengthened their defence with a double signing. Defender Tom Miller has agreed a 2 year deal after being released by Carlisle United. Preston North End's teenage goalkeeper Mathew Hudson has arrived for a 6 month loan spell.

Striker Stephen Humphrys has joined Scunthorpe United on a season long loan. The Fulham youngster was on loan with Rochdale for part of last season.

Here we go again, Bristol City have paid the magical undisclosed fee to sign full back Jack Hunt from Sheffield Wednesday.

Scottish forward Marc McNulty has moved from Coventry City to Reading for, yes another undisclosed fee!

Crewe Alexandra have signed free agent forward Alex Nicholls on a one-year deal. The 30 year old left Barnet at the end of the season after the Bees were relegated from the Football League.

Another player leaving Leeds on loan is young defender Paudie O'Connor. The 20 year old signed for Blackpool on a season-long loan.

Hibs have spent an undisclosed fee (argh!!!) to bring in Stevie Mallan from Barnsley

Steven Naismith has returned to Hearts on loan from Norwich City. Naismith spent the second half of last season with the SPFL side.

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of legendary Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon on a one year deal, with the option for a second year. The 40 year old left Juventus at the end of last season and, after deciding to prolong his playing career, turned down a backroom staff offer from the Turin giants to join PSG.

AS Roma have loaned Brazilian right back to Sao Paulo for the season.

Former Arsenal youngster Gilles Sunu has left Angers to join Turkish Super Lig side BB Erzurumspor on a free transfer.

Czech midfielder Jakub Jankto has moved on loan to Sampdoria from fellow Serie A side Udinese.

AS Monaco have spent £9m to sign midfielder Pele from Rio Ave in Portugal.

Mauro Zarate has left Watford to sign with Boca Juniors.

Cameroon midfielder Pierre Kunde has swapped Spain's La Liga for Germany's Bundesliga with a £6.75m move from Atletico Madrid to join 1.FSV Mainz 05.

Seven Sign New Deals With Bluebirds

Cardiff City have managed to tie up new deals with seven of their promotion-winning squad. Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson is also expected to agree a new contract. The seven players are captain and defender Sean Morrison, midfielder Joe Ralls, defenders Callum Paterson, Lee Peltier and Matthew Connolly, keeper Brian Murphy and winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

Trotters Out On Strike

Bolton Wanderers have been forced to cancel a friendly with SPFL side St Mirren after their players went on strike over unpaid wages. The players released the following statement: "Over the past two seasons we as a club have experienced unprecedented success in first achieving promotion to the Championship, then staying in the league last season. This was achieved despite extremely difficult circumstances. All players, current and past, who were contracted to the club have contributed to this success. Over the course of the two years, on numerous occasions contracted players have not been paid on time. This has culminated in certain players not receiving their June wage. On each occasion this has happened we have received no notification or an explanation as to why. We feel this is totally unacceptable after a huge effort from everybody over the last two seasons. Regrettably, as a group, this has led to the decision. We unreservedly apologise to any supporters that have made plans to come and watch the game."
