Transfers

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has returned to the Australian A-League to join Central Coast Mariners on loan. The Scot spent last season on loan at Melbourne City, who have taken Villa team-mate Ritchie de Laet on loan this season instead. McCormack could potentially play alongside Usain Bolt, as the Jamaican former sprint king is on trial with the Mariners.

Falkirk Claim Scrapping Academy Saved Club Financially

Falkirk's chairman Margaret Lang has claimed that pulling out of their youth academy has enabled the club to survive financially. "Financial projections showed that, without substantial cost savings, the club would have run out of money by April 2018," Lang stated. "We could not allow that to happen." Lang pointed out that the cost of developing young players has increased to nearly £500,000 under the SFA's new 'Project Brave' system.

Bola Red Card Rescinded

Blackpool have won an appeal against a 3 match ban Marc Bola would have received following his red card against Plymouth Argyle in League One on Saturday. While the FA Regulatory Commission accepted his appeal on the grounds of wrongful dismissal they rejected a similar appeal from his team-mate Donervon Daniels.

Chelsea Youngster Signs New Five Year Deal

Chelsea's young Wales international Ethan Ampadu has been given a five-year contract. The 18 year old, who was signed from Exeter City in 2017, has 7 first team appearances under his belt already. "We look forward to watching him develop into a key player for the club over the coming years," said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.

Lyon To Ban Nazi Salute Fan For Life

Lyon are planning on banning one fan for life after he was caught on camera performing a Nazi salute during their victory over Manchester City in the Champions League. Once they identify the fan, they have said he will not be allowed into their home ground or to travel for games to see the club.

Bayern Confirm Coman Injury Worse Than Feared

Bayern Munich are struggling badly with injuries this season and things just got worse for them as it has now been confirmed Kingsley Coman will not miss three months but is instead ruled out for the rest of the season with a syndesmotic ligament injury. The French winger had a similar injury last season which saw him miss 3 months and it had been assumed it would be a similar case this season.

Ramos Sets New Record

You will probably not be surprised to know that the record Sergio Ramos has just set in the Champions League is one for the most yellow cards shown to a single player in the competition. Ramos passed Paul Scholes record to set a new mark of 37 yellows.

Lovren Denies Perjury Charge

Liverpool's Croatian international defender Dejan Lovren has denied any wrongdoing after the defender was charged with perjury, alongside Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, in the case of Zdravko Mamic, who was sentenced to 6 and a half years in jail during the summer. A court in Osijek has ruled that the pair illegally paid half of their transfer fees to Mamic, when leaving Dinamo Zagreb, in order to push their moves through. Lovren disputes the claim saying on social media: "After coming from afternoon training, I learned that the media in Croatia and then in England reported the news that an indictment was filed against me for giving a false statement in one case in Croatia. My family, friends and acquaintances told me the same thing. So before I saw or received the indictment at all, and before my attorneys received it, all the media reported the news. This is simply not fair, not just, not sporting. In this way, acting on me and my family is extremely discriminatory and unfair. A fight that is not fair and I'm not used to. But I want to say this to all, especially to my family, friends, supporters in my homeland, my club and my club's fans in England, [that I am] innocent. I did not commit any criminal offence. I am proud of my life, every step of my life, everything that my family and I have created. With indignation I dismiss all accusations, and to anyone who wants to ruin my reputation and the reputation of my family, I say it will not succeed."
