Candeias Sent Off For Blowing Kisses

Referee Willie Collum was heavily criticised at the weekend for sending off Rangers winger Daniel Candeias against St Mirren. Rangers attempted to have the red card overturned, claiming it must have been mistaken identity as the Portugese winger had done nothing wrong. However the attempt failed as Collum said it was Candeias, who he claimed had goaded St Mirren's Anton Ferdinand into putting him a headlock and jabbing him in the chin. Both players were booked, Ferdinand for the headlock and jab, Candeias received his second yellow for blowing kisses at Ferdinand as he ran past him just after Rangers had scored. Rangers boss Steven Gerrard responded by saying: "So Daniel gets a yellow card for that? Come on, lads. Be serious. The second yellow card is embarrassing. There is your evidence, that's what you're dealing with."
