Football News: Aguero to miss vital Roma trip.

Man City's 1-0 over Everton at the Etihad was overshadowed by Sergio Aguero's knee injury which rules him out of Wednesday's crucial Champions League clash with Roma.

With Chelsea losing to Newcastle earlier in the day City grasped the opportunity to move within three points of the Londoners at the top of the table just five weeks after finding themselves 11 points behind the Premier League leaders. But the victory came at a price with the injury to talisman Aguero.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini was pessimistic when he spoke about the Argentinian's knee injury.

"He has a problem in his ligament, in his knee, we will see tomorrow how serious it is but it's not good news, I don't think he will be able to play next week. We must wait for the doctor but the important thing is he will not be playing against Roma and it's a very important game for us.

City travel to Rome knowing they must win and hope that CSKA do not, or get a score draw and hope CSKA lose. If they lose, they are out of Europe altogether. They will already be without suspended midfielder Yaya Toure for the trip while captain Vincent Kompany is struggling with a hamstring injury and David Silva is recovering from a knee problem.

Add in Aguero's absence and it could be a long night for City fans, more importantly it means City once again crash out of the Champions League at the first hurdle for the 3rd time in four years and will pile the pressure on Pellegrini to hold onto his job come the summer.}
