Transfers

Major League Soccer is losing one of its foreign stars as Italian international striker Sebastian Giovinco is moving to the Saudi Professional League. The 32 year old forward has joined Al-Hilal from Toronto FC with a record of 83 goals and 51 assists in 142 games.

Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has joined Sunderland on loan. The young Scot had played for Mackems manager Jack Ross at St Mirren.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed a permanent deal for on-loan full-back Jonny Castro for a price which equals the club record of £18m. Jonny was on loan from Atletico Madrid, just after signing for them from Celta Vigo.

Newcastle United sign a much-needed left back on loan. 23 year old Antonio Barreca has come in from Monaco until the end of the season with an option to buy.

Wigan Athletic have signed Everton midfielder Beni Baningime on loan. Baningime's brother Divin already plays for the Latics.

Luton Town have made a triple signing on loan. Alex Baptiste from QPR, Aaron Connolly from Brighton & Hove Albion and Jason Cummings from Nottingham Forest all arrive at the club.

Gillingham top that with 4 signings on deadline day arriving on loan. Sheffield United winger Ricky Holmes, Preston North End forward Graham Burke, Forest Green Rovers striker Tahvon Campbell and Wigan Athletic midfielder Leonardo da Silva Lopes will spend the second half of the season there.

Middlesbrough midfielder Ben Liddle has joined Forest Green Rovers on loan.

Zach Clough's loan deal with Rochdale from Nottingham Forest has been extended until the end of the season.

Swindon Town have brought in a pair of signings. Theo Robinson has arrived on loan from Southend United, while Cameron McGilp has made a free transfer move from Birmingham City.

Shrewsbury Town made a trio of deadline day loan signings, to make it 10 players brought in during the January window. Stefan Payne has returned from Bristol Rovers, having only left the New Meadow to sign for Rovers in August, Tyrese Campbell has come in from Stoke City and Derby County keeper Jonathan Mitchell has also joined.

A trio of signings have joined Hibernian while one has left. Striker Jamie Maclaren's loan move to Darmstadt 98 so that he can return to his home country of Australia with Melbourne City. Reading striker Marc McNulty, Leicester City defender Darnell Johnson and Motherwell midfielder Gael Bigirimana have all joined until the end of the season.

Yeovil Town have spent an undisclosed fee on Courtney Duffus from Oldham Athletic, while Tristan Abrahams has joined on loan from Norwich City.

Shane McLoughlin has joined AFC Wimbledon from Ipswich Town on a free transfer. Watford striker Michael Folivi has also arrived on loan.

Dynamo Dresden defender Phil Heise has signed for Norwich City, to become the 8th German player on the Canaries' books.

Portsmouth have signed two forwards on loan. James Vaughan has moved from Wigan Athletic and Viv Solomon-Otabor arrives from Birmingham City.

Middlesbrough forward George Miller will stay on loan at Bradford City, despite the youngster signing for Barnsley.

Scott Hogan has joined Sheffield United on loan from Aston Villa. Coming in to Villa have been Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings and Swansea City midfielder Tom Carroll on loan. French full-back Frederic Guilbert has also signed for Villa from Caen, but returned there on loan. Defender James Bree has also left Villa on loan. He will spend the rest of the season with Ipswich Town.

Everton have recalled Callum Connolly from a loan spell with Wigan Athletic and sent him to Bolton Wanderers for the rest of the season instead.

Free agent defender Liam Ridgewell has joined Hull City on a short term deal. Ridgewell left Portland Timbers in December at the end of the MLS season.

Andy King has joined Derby County on loan from Leicester City. Welsh midfielder Joe Ledley has been freed by Derby.

Three joined Sheffield Wednesday on deadline day. Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa has joined the Owls for an undisclosed fee, while Newcastle United pair Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar have arrived on loan.

West Bromwich Albion have bolstered their promotion push with three loan signings. Swansea City's flying Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero, Jacob Murphy from Newcastle United and Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen will finish the season with the Baggies.

Canadian forward Liam Millar has joined Kilmarnock on loan from Liverpool just after signing a new long-term deal with the Reds.

QPR midfielder Sean Goss and Partick Thistle goalkeeper Cammy Bell have joined St Johnstone on loan.

Celtic made a double signing with Manny Perez and Andrew Gutman joining but both will return on loan to their college sides in the USA. Borussia Dortmund right-back Jeremy Toljan has joined the Bhoys on loan.

Hamilton Academicals have signed a pair of strikers in David McMillan and George Oakley. McMillan in on loan from St Johnstone, while Oakley has come in for an undisclosed fee from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

After only leaving Kilmarnock in the summer, Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has returned on loan.

St Mirren have made two loan signings in the shape of striker Duckens Nazon from Sint-Truiden and defender Laurentiu Corbu from Dinamo Bucharest.

Rangers agreed a fee for the early transfer of Glen Kamara. The 23 year old was set to join Rangers in the summer when his contract expired, but the deal has allowed him to move immediately.

Dundee added Scott Wright from Aberdeen, Ryan McGowan from Bradford City, Ethan Robson from Sunderland and John O'Sullivan from Blackpool all on loan.

Nottingham Forest have added Leo Bonatini from Wolves and Pele (no noth that one) from Monaco (though that would explain why Monaco are struggling so badly if they had a 78 year old playing for them) on loan.

Youth academy graduate Reece Oxford has been loaned out by West Ham United to join Augsburg for the rest of the season.

MK Dons have taken Steven Walker and Jake Hesketh on loan. Walker has arrived from Middlesbrough, while Hesketh moves from Southampton.

Merseyside duo Matty Virtue and Anthony Evans have joined Blackpool. Virtue has made a permanent move from Liverpool, while Evans has joined on loan from Everton.

Managerless Port Vale have brought in three loan signings. West Brom defender Kyle Howkins, Manchester United midfielder Callum Whelan and Nottingham Forest midfielder Toby Edser will all spend the rest of the season there.

Young Tottenham Hotspur striker Kazaiah Sterling has joined Sunderland on loan. Anthony Georgiou has also left Spurs on loan, this time to Levante.

Arsenal have sent midfielder Emile Smith-Rown on loan to RB Leipzig.

Reading have sold Leandro Bacuna to Cardiff City.

Al-Arabi have taken Wilfried Bony on loan from Swansea City.

Brighton have signed a pair of youngsters and then immediately sent them back on loan to their previous clubs. Jan Mlakar was bought from NK Maribor, while Tudor-Cristian Baluta joins from Viitorul Constanta.

Teenage midfielder Ante Palaversa has joined Manchester City from Hajduk Split then returned to the Croatian team on loan.

Yet another midfielder leaves Monaco on loan, this time Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans has gone to Leicester City. Adrien Silva has gone the other way as part of the deal. Defender Almamy Toure was sold by Monaco for an undisclosed fee and signed for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The robot is back in the Prem, potentially, as a swap deal sees Peter Crouch join Burnley from Stoke while Sam Vokes goes the other way for a fee in excess of £7m. Stoke left-back Erik Pieters has moved to Amiens on loan.

Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron has completed a move to Newcastle United for a fee in excess of £21m.

Former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa has left Borussia Dortmund on loan to join Besiktas.

Atletico Mineiro agreed a deal to sell right-back Emerson to Barcelona in the summer for around £10m.

Former Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari has signed for Albacete. The former Ghana international has been without a club since leaving Deportivo La Coruna in the summer.

Lazar Markovic's disastrous Liverpool spell has come to an end as he joined Fulham for an overinflated fee of £0. Former West Ham midfielder Harvard Nordtveit has also joined Fulham, this time on loan from Hoffenheim. Going out from the Cottagers was suspended forward Aboubakar Kamara, who has joined Yeni Malatyaspor on loan.

Bristol Rovers have signed a pair from League One rivals Coventry City. Jonson Clarke-Harris cost an undisclosed fee, whole Abu Ogogo was a free.

Burton Albion have taken Alex Bradley on loan from West Brom.

Ben Wilmot has joined Watford's sister club Udinese on loan.

Michy Batshuayi's loan spell with Valencia was ended early so that the Belgium striker could join Crystal Palace instead.

Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella has joined Extremadura on loan.

Former Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea and Wigan Athletic striker Franco Di Santo has made a free transfer from Schalke 04 to join Rayo Vallecano.

Benfica have sold Chile striker Nicolas Castillo to America of the Mexican Liga MX for around £6m.

Everton have loaned winger Yannick Bolasie to RSC Anderlecht.

Former Newcastle forward Facundo Ferreyra has joined Espanyol on loan from Benfica.

Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic has joined Standard Liege on loan from AC Milan.

David Meyler, the player Alan Pardew once headbutted, has joined Coventry City on loan from Reading.

Girondins Bordeaux have bought teenage midfielder Yacine Adli from PSG for around £5m.

One-time Brazilian 'wunderkind' Ganso has returned to Brazil from Sevilla to sign for Fluminese.

Man Utd have loaned goalkeeper Joel Pereira to KV Kortrijk of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

Chelsea winger Lucas Piazon has joined Chievo Verona on loan.

Former Spurs and QPR cult hero Sandro has joined Udinese. The Brazilian midfielder is on loan from Genoa.

Derby County midfielder Jacob Butterfield has joined Bradford City on loan.

Monaco's Adama Traore has moved to Cercle Brugge on loan.

Everton fans will be gutted to know Cuco Martina will be unavailable in the second half of the season as he has joined Feyenoord on loan.

Former Liverpool striker Jerome Sinclair, who left because he believed he was too good for the bench at Anfield, has joined Oxford United on loan from Watford, because he is not actually good enough to get on the Hornets' bench.

Valencia have paid approximately £4.5m for striker Ruben Sobrino from CD Alaves.

Empoli have paid a loan fee in excess of £2m for Brazilian forward Diego Farias from Cagliari. They have also sold Danish defender Jacob Rasmussen to Fiorentina for over £6m and then immediately taken him back on loan for the rest of the season. Full-back Kevin Diks has also joined Empoli on loan from Fiorentina.

Former Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma has joined Schalke 04 on loan from VfL Wolfsburg.

Former Spurs youngster Dorian Dervite has left Charleroi on loan to NAC Breda.

Fulham flop Kostantinos Mitroglou has joined Galatasaray on loan from Olympique Marseille.

Beijing Sinobo Guoan have paid just under £5m for Brentford midfielder Nico Yennaris.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, the brother of Sergej, has joined Ascoli on loan from Torino.

 

Contracts

Anthony Martial has extended his contract with Manchester United until 2024 with an option for a further year.

Veteran Celtic captain Scott Brown has extended his contract for a further year until 2021.

Scottish defender John Souttar has signed a contract extension with Heart of Midlothian. His new deal runs until 2022.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Dzenis Burnic has a new deal until the end of the season.

South Korean midfielder In-beom Hwang has a new deal until the end of 2020 with a club option for 2 more years.

 

Swans Hold On To Duo

Daniel James and Leroy Fer were both close to deadline day deals to leave Swansea City, but the pair ended up staying put. James was so far through the transfer process that he took a medical at Leeds United, before the Welsh club pulled out of the deal with terms being unable to be agreed with regards to the fee. Leroy Fer, whose contract expires in the summer, missed out on a move to Aston Villa.

 

Bees Appoint New Chief Exec

Lifelong fan and season ticket-holder Jon Varney will be taking up the role of chief executive with Brentford from 1st March. The 49 year old will replace Mark Devlin, who stepped down at the end of December.

 

Djilobodji Gets 6 Match Ban

Former Chelsea and Sunderland defender Papy Djilobodji has been given a 6 match ban for breaking an opponent's nose by kicking him in the face. The centre back's ban is double the number of games he has managed to play for new club Guingamp, who he joined last month after having his Sunderland contract terminated in September. Reims' Argentine striker Pablo Chavarria is set for 3 weeks on the sidelines after surgery to repair a complex fracture.
