Berahino Guilty Of Drink Driving

Stoke City forward Saido Berahino has been found guilty of drinking and driving after being tested at almost 3 times the legal alcohol limit. Berahino had been robbed a few minutes earlier but then decided to get behind the wheel, even though his girlfriend had been driving prior to the incident. Magistrates found he "was not in fear of death or fear of serious injury" and banned him for 30 months plus gave him a £75,000 fine. Berahino has two previous drink driving convictions.

Lazio Win Coppa Italia Amid VAR 'Scandal'

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has called the lack of a VAR decision against Lazio defender Bastos a "scandal". Lazio went on to win the Coppa Italia 2-0 but it could have all been different as, with the score still 0-0, a shot from former Middlesbrough midfielder Marten de Roon hit Bastos's hand, which deflected it on to the post, but neither the referee nor the VAR decided that the already booked Bastos should be punished. Gasperini said: "Are we meant to only use VAR when it's handy? It was a penalty and a red card. This is a scandal! Tell me why it happened? Give me some justification. This is very serious. That was going into the goal, it was clearly deflected. This incident is absolutely worthy of a VAR review. It might not have been seen by the referee, and indeed I didn't see it either, but the VAR? I want those officials in the booth to come here and explain to me what they saw. The only possible explanation is they had a blackout and couldn't see the screen. Either that or they just closed their eyes and looked the other way. Maybe we wouldn't have won anyway, but it's really ugly to see this. It's ugly. It shows no respect at all for the Atalanta supporters." Off the pitch was also full of controversy as Lazio fans clashed with police, setting fire to a police car with two policemen inside and bombarding police with bottles, stones and other objects. Two other police cars were also damaged but the officers only suffered minor injuries.

Ajax Clinch Eredivisie

Ajax have won their first Dutch league title since 2014 by beating De Graafschap 4-1 on the final day of the season. They had needed just one point to lift the trophy. The win also meant they did a domestic double having lifted the Dutch Cup already.

Lyon Reveal Large Rise In Revenue

French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais, currently in 3rd place in the league, have reported a 19% jump in revenue for the first 9 months of the current financial year. Revenue has risen 36.1m euros to 223.8m euros. The improvement is mostly due to media and marketing revenues more than doubling and their run to the last-16 of the Champions League.

Coleman Out Of Work

Hebei China Fortune have sacked former Wales manager Chris Coleman after just one win in 9 Chinese Super League matches and sit just one place above the relegation spots, despite featuring the talents of former Barcelona, Liverpool and West Ham United midfielder Javier Mascherano. Coleman was relegated with Sunderland in his previous management role and very nearly flopped the same way with Hebei. A club statement on Weibo read: "After friendly negotiation and agreement reached between the two parties, with immediate effect, Mr Chris Coleman will no longer serve as head coach of Hebei China Fortune Football Club. We sincerely thank Coleman for his hard work and contribution to the team and wish him all the best in his future work and life."
