Review of the Day

Contracts

French left back Jerome Roussillon has extended his deal with VfL Wolfsburg until 2023.

Transfers

Barnsley have released former Tottenham Hotspur left-back Zeki Fryers.

FC Metz have released right-back Ivan Balliu.

Swedish full-back Martin Olsson has been released by Swansea City, along with Dutch midfielder Leroy and winger Wayne Routledge.

Former Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has been released by Fulham.

Huddersfield Town have released German full-back Erik Durm, American midfielder Danny Williams and Belgian forward Laurent Depoitre.

Belgian defender Dedryck Boyata has left Celtic on a free transfer to join Hertha Berlin.

AC Milan have released midfielder Jose Mauri and full back Ignazio Abate.

Baggies Decide Against Gayle

West Bromwich Albion have decided against the permanent signing of on-loan Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle. Gayle joined the Baggies on a swap deal involving Salomon Rondon in August. West Brom's technical director Luke Dowling said: "Dwight's contract is a Premier League contract. We will pay Premier League contracts but only when we are back in the Premier League. I know it won't be the news Albion fans want to hear, but they need to trust us and know we are doing everything right for this football club. We don't want to keep players on big contracts and then have to lay off normal staff and make people redundant. We have good people behind the scenes. We want to do that and still have a really competitive wage bill on the pitch, which we will have next year."

Kompany To Take Charge Of Anderlecht

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is leaving the club in the summer to take charge of Anderlecht as 'player'-manager, though it is dubious he will play that often considering his injury problems. The 33 year old has signed a 3 year deal with former club Anderlecht.

Meunier Wants PSG Stay

Belgium full-back Thomas Meunier has stated that he wants to stay with Paris Saint-Germain. Meunier told Canal+, the former PSG owners: "As I have said, nothing is clear, with regards to me or the club. People are enquiring, left and right, but I still have another year on my contract. The club knows my position, I have always said that I want to stay. Aside from that, do I suit them or not, do they want to change the Paris cycle a bit? Nothing is clear for the moment and we are going to see what happens. I think that I will receive news during the holidays."

Pepe To Leave Lille

Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe is highly coveted by top European teams and now Lille's head coach Christophe Galtier has admitted he will have to manage without the 23 year old next season. Galtier said: "Nicolas Pepe will leave. Life's like that, football's like that today. He is a player of the highest level who will have a big decision to make on the choice of his next club. There will be a battle between the great European teams. I hope that he will take good amount of time to think about it, do his research. This summer, I think we will sell four to five players, no more. All clubs are forced to balance their accounts except perhaps one. I would yes say, it is sure he will leave. He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to him make him for him, I think he will have the choice." Pepe has just been named best African player in Ligue 1.

Mbappe Cleans Up

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has won the Ligue 1 Player and Young Player of the Year awards for the season just finished. His acceptance speech will not have gone down well at the club, as he dropped hints about leaving saying: "It's maybe time to take more responsibility, whether that's at PSG or elsewhere", and that he is at "the first of maybe the second turning point" of his career.

Wanda Hits Out At Pundit

Wanda Nara has shown her fiery side once more after seeing pundit Daniele Adani criticise husband Mauro Icardi's goal for Inter Milan in the 4-1 defeat away to Napoli. Adani said: "Icardi's goal was useless." Wanda, in an Instagram story she has since deleted, said: "As useless as your sister's pussy."
