Fernandes Wants England Move

Sporting Clube de Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes has confirmed a desire to move to England. Speaking ahead of a pre-season friendly with Liverpool Fernandes spoke to reportes and said: "Will this be the last match for Sporting? I don't know, it's the coach who decides. I told I'd like to play in England, but I don't care about it right now." The club president, Frederico Varandas has already told RTP that they want more than 60million euros for him: "I don't know if there are many or if there are few interested clubs. What I know, a lot has been spoken of values, coming to the press, €55 million, €62 million... for that he doesn't leave, for sure."

Guardiola Denies Chinese Reports

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed reports from Chinese state news agency Xinhua that City had not engaged with local fans on their tour of China. The Mancunians had been accused of disrespecting local fans and showing discrimination towards local media, though the club has denied there is any truth in those reports. Guardiola said: "I should say I don't agree and also that it's false. I can't understand what people are saying - maybe one journalist is a bit upset, I don't know why. But it's far away from the reality. We had an incredible time in Shanghai. We were committed to the co-operation you have to do here in China. The people from the hotel, all the people asking us to do things, we were ready to do that. For us it's a new experience every season, it will help on the pitch, and off the pitch we are showing what an amazing club we are and how we are trying to be better every season. I'm so proud of what we've done - all the marketing departments, all the people who've organised this tour."

Zidane Denies Bale Disrespect

Zinedine Zidane has claimed that Gareth Bale refused to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich on Sunday, as well as denying that he showed the Welshman disrespect by saying that he is close to leaving the club. Zidane said: "I haven't shown a lack of respect towards anyone. What I said the other day is that the club was working on Bale's exit. I've always said the same thing: the players are the most important ones in all of this. Whenever there's a player involved, I'll always back them." He then continued: "Gareth didn't come on [against Bayern Munich] because he didn't want to, and he said it was because the club was working on his exit. The club is doing what it has to and that's all there is to it. Bale is currently part of the squad and I respect that. That's the most important thing for me."
