Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Leicester City are in talks with AS Roma over the signing of Turkish international winger Cengiz Under. Rodgers said: "He's a very, very good player. There have been negotiations with the club [Roma] and we're hopeful there. We need a different kind of attacking player to help out at the top end of the pitch. It's clear we have pace and power, but I feel we need more football in there."

Following his release by Juventus, Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain has signed for Major League Soccer's Inter Miami.

Welsh golfer Gareth Bale is on the verge of rejoining Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Real Madrid after arriving at Spurs' training ground for his medical.

Injury Round-Up

Ipswich Town will have to make do without forward Aaron Drinan for up to two months. The 22 year old suffered a thigh injury in the first half of their League One win over Wigan Athletic, only a week after making his debut for the club in the Carabao Cup.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he expects Portugese star Ricardo Pereira to return in late October. Rodgers said: "Ricardo is still a period away. You're looking towards the end of October for him. He's made great strides. He's been working tirelessly in the gym, but he's still quite a way from actually playing."

Sergio Aguero may still be two months away from a return to playing according to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Guardiola said: "We knew the injury was difficult. He still hasn't had one training session with us and Sergio is not a guy who regains his physical condition quickly. He has been out for a long time, so maybe in one or two months he will be ready."

Managerial Changes

Mauricio Pochettino has denied receiving an offer from Newcastle United. According to Marca, Newcastle's prospective owners had tried to coax him to the Tyneside club but Pochettino told Spanish radio station Cadena COPE: "I don't know who was putting my name on so many clubs. Barcelona did not offer me. Neither did PSG, nor Juventus or Newcastle. Benfica and Monaco did call." Pochettino did reveal that it is his "dream" to manage Real Madrid one day.

Barcelona have now told Quique Setien's staff that they are not sacked after all but will be "re-positioned" within the club instead.

Disciplinary Charges

Connah's Quay Nomads are facing charges of bringing the game into disrepute after their manager said that they turned a blind eye to players who had tested positive for Covid-19 and felt unwell. Three players from the club tested positive for the virus ahead of their Europa League qualifying match against Dinamo Tbilisi, which they lost anyway. A fourth player has now also tested positive and the four have gone into self-isolation. Nomads manager Andy Morrison said: "Three lads have turned up tonight and they're not well. And it's like 'lads, I don't want to hear it. I can't hear it tonight that you're ill... let's just get through it'. I've been told that before the game and we've had to turn a blind eye to it and then you would have never noticed that anyone there tonight wasn't feeling great." A Football Association of Wales (FAW) statement read: "The FAW is satisfied that the comments contradict the confirmed compliance with the Covid-19 protocols and whilst the club may decide to take internal actions, the FAW is currently investigating whether a breach of the guidelines has taken place and whether the comments constitute a breach of FAW Rules for bringing the association into disrepute."

After climbing into the stands and "assaulting a spectator" on Monday, Hamburg defender Toni Leistner has been given a 5 match ban, 2 of the matches are suspended for a year. He was also fined 8,000 euros. Leistner was playing against former club Dynamo Dresden in the German Cup, with Hamburg losing 4-1. Leistner was insulted by a Dresden supporter after the game and climbed into the stands and "physical attacked him".

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally bowed to public pressure and begun charging people indicted by the Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigative documentary which was released in 2018. The documentary, which was entitled 'Number 12', exposed bribery and corruption on the part of Ghana football officials and referees. A GFA statement announced: "The GFA Prosecutor has begun charging some individuals who were implicated in the Investigative Documentary titled "Number 12" by Tiger Eye PI. Former Greater Accra RFA Chairman Nii Komiete Doku and Mr. Kofi Manu have both been charged for Abuse of position contrary to Article 25(1) of the GFA Code of Ethics, 2019. They have also been charged for Bribery contrary to Article 27(1) and (2) of the GFA Code of Ethics, 2019. Both are expected to submit their written Statements of Defence by Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the GFA Secretariat on or before 16:00 or through dc@ghanafa.org. They may, however, choose the option for a personal hearing before the GFA Ethics Committee on a date and time to be communicated. Should they fail to choose any of the options, the Ethics Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case in their absence. Meanwhile the GFA Prosecutor will send charge sheets to other individuals who were implicated in the investigative documentary." The GFA were furnished with extra footage by Anas in April.

FIFA Relax Nationality Rules

The rules on players changing their national team have been relaxed. Previously you could only change your national team if you had not played a competitive match for the nation you were changing from. Now players can change nationality if they have featured in up to 3 competitive matches, so long as none are in tournaments such as the World Cup and they were less than 21 years of age when they played them. They must also have been inactive at international level for at least 3 years. The rules will apply if the player:
1. Was fielded in a match in official competition at "A" international level in any kind of football for his current association.
2. At the time of being fielded for his first match in an official competition (at any level) in any kind of football for his current association, he held the nationality of the association which he wishes to represent.
3. At the time of being fielded for his last match in an official competition in any kind of football for his current association, he had not turned 21 years old.
4. Was fielded in no more than three matches at "A" international level in any kind of football for his current association, whether in an official competition or non-official competition.
5. At least three years have passed since being fielded for his last match at "A" international level in any kind of football for his current association, whether in an official competition or non-official competition.
6. Has never participated in any kind of football at "A" international level in the final tournament of the FIFA World Cup or a final tournament of a confederation competition.
