Managerial Changes

Unsurprisingly Wayne Rooney has been confirmed as permanent manager of Derby County and announced his official retirement from playing.

Disciplinary Charges

Republic of Ireland international winger James McClean has been suspended for allegedly breaking the football bubble by training in a private gym away from the club. Gyms are closed by the government under current lockdown rules.

Kilmarnock and St Mirren have won their appeals against 3-0 defeats that were handed to them due to CV regulation breaches. Their initial £40,000 each fines have been halved, with half of that suspended and the three games concerned will now be rescheduled.

Games Off

Bradford City v Crawley Town is off due to snow. Referee Bobby Madley said: "The roads around the ground do not look or feel safe." Also in Yorkshire, Harrogate Town against Exeter City is off due to the snow.

In the English Championship the game between Queens Park Rangers and Wycombe Wanderers is the latest to fall victim to the pandemic. The match at QPR's Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium has been postponed after Wanderers were hit by an outbreak.

Pirates Considering Bus Alternative

Bristol Rovers are looking into scrapping the use of a team bus to travel to away games in order to prevent the potential spread of the current virus. Manager Paul Tisdale told the BBC: "We've got to be so careful. We're even talking about now, for away travel, not having a team coach and going independently. I'd love it if football can continue through to the end of the season, we've got to do everything we can to make that happen." Rovers recently had to postpone two matches due to an outbreak and have already implemented increased hygiene protocols.

Latics Have 11 Buyers

The administrators of Wigan Athletic have revealed that there are 11 parties interested in taking over the troubled club. Their statement revealed: "We are in discussions with these parties and they are performing due diligence which involves reviewing documentation within the data room and making further enquiries to the administrators. Exclusivity has not been granted to any party and we have updated the EFL on the position."

Auckland Withdraw From World Cup

Oceania's representative in the forthcoming Club World Cup, due to take place in Qatar next month, has withdrawn. Auckland City could not find a way to make the tournament due to New Zealand's restrictions to avoid the spread of the current pandemic in the island country. Auckland will not be replaced in the tournament, which will just be reduced to six clubs.
