Portsmouth have turned to Danny Cowley as their new head coach. Cowley, along with his younger brother Nicky as assistant, is replacing Kenny Jackett, who was sacked on Sunday. The Cowleys enjoyed great success with Lincoln City, before leaving for a short-lived spell with Huddersfield Town. They were sacked by the Terriers in July after just 10 months in charge.

The pressure on Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is ramping up further following the passive 3-0 defeat at the hands of a Brighton & Hove Albion that barely had to break sweat to win. A banner was hung outside St James' Park which read: "You are not one of us - leave now". Bruce has never managed to get the backing of the Toon fans with his out of date style of football and lacklustre tactics. It does seem like only Mike Ashley and Bruce's friends in the media have ever thought he is the right guy for the job, but even they must be questioning the wisdom of hanging on to Bruce, with relegation looking more and more likely by the week.

Disciplinary Charges

Slavia Prague claim to have lodged a criminal complaint over what they term a "brutal attack" on Ondrej Kudela at Ibrox after their 2-0 win over Rangers. Rangers have alleged that Kudela racially abused Glen Kamara, which caused an on-pitch altercation. Kudela was seen to cover his mouth before saying what was alleged to be "you f***ing monkey", though Slavia claim he said "you guy". Kudela has since admitted swearing at Kamara. Not sure why he had to cover his mouth to do that though, as it was the only moment he did cover. Kamara has called Kudela's denial "a complete and utter lie". Slavia said that there was a post-match assault on Kudela which was "thought out, including deliberately covering the cameras at the scene of the incident", and that the "brutal attack was carried out with full intensity in order to injure and cause physical damage". They also claim UEFA delegates witnessed the incident.

RIP Hotshot

Leeds United's record goalscorer Peter Lorimer has passed away after "a long-term illness". Lorimer, who was Leeds' youngest ever player when he debuted at the age of 15 years, 289 days, was 74 years old. Lorimer was a key part of Don Revie's great Leeds' team of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Leeds stated: "Peter's contribution to Leeds United will never be forgotten and his passing leaves another huge hole in the Leeds United family. He will always remain a club icon and his legacy at Elland Road will live on."

Haaland Storms Off

Following his brace, which included a last-gasp equaliser to secure a point for Borussia Dortmund against FC Koln, Erling Braut Haaland showed a reaction which displayed his unhappiness with Dortmund's season. Haaland, making no attempt to wander round shaking hands and congratulating the opposition, as has now become traditional, instead threw his shirt to a Koln player, disdainfully, then stormed off down the tunnel, ignoring everyone.

Bizarre Protest Halts La Liga Game

Athletic Bilbao's home game against fellow Basque side Eibar was interrupted in the 68th minute when a drone carrying a protest banner landed on the pitch. The banner was protesting against Bilbao hosting Euro 2020 matches as Basque separatists do not want Spain to play home games on Basque soil. Bilbao are scheduled to host all three of Spain's group stage matches, the first time that the national side has played a game in the Basque Country since 1967.
