Managerial Changes

Southend United's academy manager Ricky Duncan has been promoted to be the club's director of football.

England's Under-16s head coach Rob Edwards has been appointed as Forest Green Rovers new head coach.

Sheffield United have turned to former Watford and Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic to replace Chris Wilder. Jokanovic was in charge at Qatari side Al-Gharafa this season.

Zinedine Zidane has resigned from his head coach role at Real Madrid for the second time. The 48-year old failed to pick up a trophy this season, losing La Liga on the final day to cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid.

After becoming the first Juventus manager to fail to win Serie A since 2012, Andrea Pirlo has been sacked. Massimiliano Allegri has been brought back to replace him. Allegri won 5 Serie A titles in a row between 2014-19 but has been out of work since leaving Juve in 2019.

Mark Cooper has been appointed as new Barrow boss. The 52-year-old had been sacked by Forest Green Rovers in April.

Falkirk have appointed Aberdeen coach Paul Sheerin as their new manager.

Congo have named Belgian coach Paul Put as their new national team manager. Put has served a three-year ban for involvement in a Belgian match-fixing scandal.

Celtic have to restart their manager search after Eddie Howe turned them down.

Napoli have appointed Luciano Spalletti to replace Gennaro Gattuso, who left after finishing 5th, outside the Champions League places. Gattuso has since taken over at Fiorentina. Spalletti has been out of work since being sacked by Inter Milan in 2019, but has won two Italian Cups and a Super Cup with Roma as well as Russian league titles with Zenit St Petersburg.

Disciplinary Charges

Nike have revealed that they dumped Neymar after he "refused to co-operate in a good faith investigation". The Paris Saint-Germain forward was being investigated for sexual assault after a Nike employee claimed that he tried to force her to give him oral sex in 2016. Nike said that their investigation was inconclusive but Neymar's lack of co-operation saw them split from the Brazilian that they had worked with for a number of years. Since then Neymar has been accused of rape in 2019, a case that was dropped due to lack of evidence.

Ryan Giggs will go on trial at Manchester Crown Court on 24th January accused of headbutting his ex-girlfriend and controlling and coercive behaviors. He has also been charged of common assault against her younger sister.

Coventry City's transfer embargo has been lifted by the English Football League. They had been placed under an embargo after failing to submit their accounts by February, but have now submitted them. Coventry were one of a number of clubs who filed their accounts late in line with Government guidelines due to the pandemic.

Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer franchise part-owned by David Beckham, has been fined a record $2m (£1.4m) for breaching the competition's rules. The MLS investigated the signing of Blaise Matuidi from Juventus last year and found that they had breached regulations. Matuidi was paid more than the maximum allowed to a non-designated player, effectively giving Inter Miami four designated players, rather than the permitted three. An MLS statement read: "The violations also included undisclosed agreements that resulted in the underreporting of salary budget amounts for players Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, Nicolas Figal and Julian Carranzay. These sanctions reflect the severity of Inter Miami's violations." The franchise has also been given a reduction of $2,271,250 (£1.6m) in the amount it can spend on players in the 2022 and 2023 season. Managing owner Jorge Mas has been fined $250,000 and former chief executive and sporting director Paul McDonough has been suspended until the end of the 2022 season.
