Contracts

Veteran former Arsenal youngster Sebastian Larsson has signed a new 1-year deal with AIK Stockholm.

Injury Round-Up

Exeter City striker Sam Nombe has been ruled out for 3 months with a hamstring tear.

Leeds United's England midfielder Kalvin Phillips could be facing a similar spell out after he also suffered a hamstring injury at the weekend. Club captain Liam Cooper also suffered a hamstring injury against Brentford, though it has not been revealed how serious the damage is.

CV and illness has seen 7 players and 3 members of the backroom staff left behind by Leicester City on their trip to Napoli for a Europa League group stage match.

Pele is back in hospital for treatment. The legendary footballer is being treated for the colon tumour that required hospitalisation in September.

Tottenham Hotspur's CV outbreak has caused their Europa Conference League match against Rennes to be postponed, with their Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend also under threat. Spurs have closed their training ground after 8 players and 5 members of staff tested positive.

Managerial Changes

Ralf Rangnick has brought in Chris Armas as his assistant head coach. Armas was the assistant to Jesse Marsch at New York Red Bulls before taking the head coach role himself and has also coached Toronto in Major League Soccer. Also joining the Manchester United staff is Sascha Lense a sports psychologist. Former Barnsley head coach Gerhard Struber rejected the opportunity to be Rangnick's assistant. Struber is the current head coach at NY Red Bulls.

Disciplinary Charges

Exeter City have received an apology after a refereeing error put them out of the FA Cup. The referee wrongly overruled his assistant to allow Cambridge United's winning goal. Exeter manager Matt Taylor has hit out at the error, claiming that it could cost him the chance to sign players in January, after Cambridge drew Newcastle United in the next round. Taylor said: "The result and the consequence of what happened with the referee was even more hurtful because we might not be able to recruit in January on the back of the money we've not got. There's no guarantee of us getting in the next round but at least we would have had the chance of it. If we'd have had the replay and the opportunity to maybe got to Newcastle then finances wouldn't have been an issue, there wouldn't have been a question in relation to that. It makes it worse the fact that they're happy to use that example as a coaching tool for the referees who don't know the rules. It's absolutely brutal because the players didn't deserve that on Saturday and they didn't deserve to watch the draw happen. There's no guarantees in terms of beating Cambridge, but at least we had a fair enough chance, and the consequence is financial for the club, it's huge."

Dundee United midfielder Calum Butcher is suspended for 3 games after he opted not to contest a charge against him for a foul on Celtic's David Turnbull on Sunday. The 30-year-old was booked at the time, but the booking was deemed to be the wrong decision by a panel of former referees.

Kenyan side Sofapaka FC are under a transfer embargo from FIFA after failing to pay former player Jedinak Nana Ameyaw money owed to him. The Ghanaian striker's contract was terminated in January, with Sofapaka citing "continued dismal performances" as the reason. FIFA's regulations outlaw the terminating of a deal with a player on the basis of poor performance and so the Kenyan side are ordered to pay the remainder of his contract up.

Olympique Lyonnais have been deducted a solitary point in Ligue 1 over the crowd trouble that caused their match with Marseille to be abandoned. The trouble once again revolved around bottles thrown from the stands at Marseille midfielder Dmitri Payet, who was hit as he lined up to take a corner. Marseille refused to restart the match, which is one of a series of games in France that has been marred by objects thrown from the crowd.
