Hamilton In Chelsea Bid

Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have been revealed as part of Martin Broughton's consortium bidding to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich after the British government forced the Russian oligarch to offload the London club. Hamilton and Williams join a number of people in the bid, including former Olympic runner Sebastian Coe, who is a Chelsea fan. Hamilton explained his involvement: "Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the world. When I heard about the opportunity, I was like wow, this is a great opportunity to be part of something so great. Sir Martin took time to speak to me on the phone and explain to me his and his team's goals if they were to win the bid, which was incredibly exciting and very much aligned with my values. I have been a football fan since I was a kid. I played in the school team every year in my childhood and I have been to numerous games. When I was young, I wanted to fit in and all the kids supported different teams. I remember switching between teams and my sister punching me and saying you have to support Arsenal, so then I became a supporter of Arsenal. But my uncle Terry is a big Blues fan and I have been to so many games with him to watch Arsenal and Chelsea play. I wanted to be the best player I could be and play for a team. I was trying to tryout for Stevenage Borough but I ended up in the racing space. I could only have dreamed of being part of a team - and that for me is the most exciting part."

CR7 Thanks Anfield Crowd

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has praised the Liverpool fans at Anfield during the 4-0 thrashing handed out to United. In the 7th minute of the clash, both sets of fans held a minute's applause while Liverpool fans also sang You'll Never Walk Alone in support of Ronaldo and his family who had suffered the sad loss of their baby boy on Monday. Ronaldo wrote on social media: "Me and my family will never forget this moment of respect and compassion. One world... One sport... One global family... Thanks, Anfield."

Blades Bid Accepted

A £115m bid by American businessman Henry Mauriss has been accepted for Sheffield United by the current owner Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Prince won ownership in 2019, following a long legal battle with Kevin McCabe. Abdullah, who is a Saudi Arabian prince, is now set to sell to Mauriss who missed out on buying Newcastle United due to their takeover by Saudis.
