Disciplinary Charges

They have also been given a one-match partial stadium closure, at least 5,000 seats, for a European game, which is suspended for two years. UEFA said the punishment was for "the throwing of objects and transmitting a provocative message of an offensive nature, i.e. illicit chants".

Coventry City's home match at the weekend was called off due to an "unsafe" pitch. The pitch had played host to rugby sevens matches during the Commonwealth Games and was deemed "unplayable" by match officials.

Bristol City have hit out at fans who gave women's team manager Lauren Smith abuse during their Championship match against Sunderland. She was sat in the stands watching City lose 3-2 to Sunderland when she "was told women shouldn't be at the football but in the kitchen".

Walsall manager Mike Flynn has said he was "disgusted" after the fans of his former club, Newport County, verbally abused him and his wife and even threw stones at them. Walsall beat Newport 1-0 at Newport's home ground, Rodney Parade, on Saturday and Flynn revealed: "I had the insults off the pitch, stones were getting thrown by the supporters behind. I think the best team lost, if I'm totally honest. A bit of a surreal feeling after because I've never wanted Newport ever to lose. But some of the comments from the fans behind me, calling my wife all-sorts, were absolutely disgusting so it probably makes it easier to accept the win." Flynn had three spells as a player with Newport, as well as five years as the club's manager, saving them from relegation out of the Football League in 2016.

Borussia Dortmund have held talks with German defender Nico Schulz after it emerged that an ex-partner has filed a criminal complaint against him for domestic violence dating back to 2020. A BVB statement read: "Borussia Dortmund has responded to yesterday's media coverage of the criminal allegations concerning Nico Schulz's private life by immediately holding talks with the player and his advisors. The player contests the criminal allegations that have been made against him. Nico Schulz has informed us that he will defend himself against these accusations with the help of legal counsel and, in addition, calls for the presumption of innocence to be applied. The allegations that have been made - of which Borussia Dortmund had no knowledge whatsoever until the media reports emerged - are extremely serious and shocking for BVB. Borussia Dortmund takes them very seriously and distances itself from any form of violence. However, Borussia Dortmund is not party to the proceedings and has no insight whatsoever into the investigation files or the criminal charges that are apparently pending. As this is a pending case in its early stages, and the factual and legal situation is extremely unclear to Borussia Dortmund as it stands today, we are not yet able to make any reliable and legally watertight decisions with regard to labour law and disciplinary measures. However, we reserve the right to do so at any time once we objectively know more." Dortmund's state prosecutor have confirmed that Schulz is under investigation for domestic violence after "a criminal complaint filed by an ex-girlfriend. There was a search of a house and data was secured." German tabloid Bild am Sonntag ran a story with images of text messages claimed to be from Schulz acknowledging his actions and apologising for his behaviour, which is said to have taken place while she was pregnant with his child. She has alleged that he kicked her in the stomach two weeks before she was due to give birth and threw her to the ground, among other instances of domestic violence. There are also accompanying pictures to the story in Bild of a woman's bruise-riddled body. Schulz was already dropped by Dortmund after being replaced ahead of the season.

Hibernian are investigating after a number of incidents in their Edinburgh derby draw against Heart of Midlothian in the SPFL on Sunday. There was a small pitch invasion after Hibs forward Martin Boyle equalised in the 95th minute. Prior to that in the second half, Hearts defender Alex Cochrane was struck by a missile thrown from the stands when trying to take a throw-in. Hibs explained: "Hibernian is aware of alleged incidents where objects appeared to have been thrown towards Hearts players, pyros being thrown and pitch incursions. These incidents will be reviewed again on the stadium CCTV and, if an incident can be detected and someone identified, appropriate action will be taken by the club. The club understands the passion that an Edinburgh derby brings, and believes it has some of the best supporters in Scotland, but remains committed to providing a safe environment for players, officials and supporters."

Juventus's on-loan Everton striker Moise Kean was dropped from the team to face Atletico Madrid in a friendly after turning up late for training. The striker has a record of being dropped due to lateness, including being dropped from the Italy U-21s. The match was moved from taking place in Tel Aviv due to Israel's military attacks on Gaza, though not in protest at Israel's actions, instead because of security concerns. The game was instead played behind closed doors at Juve's training ground in Turin.

After being dropped for "personal reasons" by Paris Saint-Germain, former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has upset PSG fans by posting pictures of himself and his wife/agent Wanda Nara flying out to Ibiza with their children for a holiday ahead of the Ligue 1 season.

Borussia Dortmund's Westfalenstadion was locked down after their game with Bayer Leverkusen after a supicious vehicle was left parked in front of the stadium with its engine running. 81,365 people were stuck there for half an hour before it was discovered that the car simply had a technical fault.
