Injury Round Up

Everton defender Yerry Mina is back on the treatment table, this time for 8 weeks with an ankle injury. It is the latest in a long string of injuries the Colombian has picked up since signing for the Toffees.

Aston Villa's summer recruit Diego Carlos is to have a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Brazilian centre-back has ruptured his Achilles tendon and is expected to be missing for at least 6 months.

Another defender to sit on the injury table is Sunderland's Dan Ballard, who has a fractured foot.

Blackburn Rovers centre-back Scott Wharton is also injured and will not be back until next month due to a calf injury.

Borussia Dortmund's Mateu Morey has returned to action after 468 days out injured. The 22 year old picked up a serious knee injury against Holstein Kiel in May 2021 that required two surgeries.

Disciplinary Charges

The Indian FA (AIFF) has been suspended by FIFA because of "undue influence from third parties". The highest court in India had disbanded the AIFF in May and appointed a committee of three people to govern the sport, which is something FIFA are actively against. Their member federations must be free from legal and political interference. FIFA stated: "The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been repealed and the AIFF administration regains full control of the AIFF's daily affairs. Fifa is in constant constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and is hopeful that a positive outcome to the case may still be achieved." The women's U17s World Cup, which was due to begin in India on 11th October, is not likely to be cancelled, rather than moved elsewhere. My question would be, why was the AIFF disbanded by the Indian court? Until I had a proper answer to that, I would not be talking about returning power to them. But then I am not one of the most corrupt regimes on earth, unlike FIFA, and only interested in protecting my assets and income.

Both Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham Hotspur's former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte have been charged by the FA following a clash between them on Sunday after the Premier League game between Spurs and Chelsea. The pair were both sent off after a bizarre and angry confrontation at their after-match handshake, with farcical scenes as Tuchel refused to let Conte's hand go.

Bradford City chief executive Ryan Sparks has registered his anger after a pyrotechnic was thrown in Valley Parade and hit and injured a home supporter. Sparks said: "Given our history, and what many of our supporters have been through together, it was utterly sickening to see a pyrotechnic deployed inside Valley Parade. After what our club has experienced, it is abhorrent to think one of our own supporters would show such a disregard for our history, and such disrespect to fellow supporters. Yesterday's events will have no doubt affected a number of people who were made to witness them. For that, on behalf of the football club, I would like to apologise." Bradford lost 56 supporters in 1985 when the ground's main stand burned down during a game against Lincoln City.

Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei has been charged with drink-driving. The Argentine was denied entry to a nightclub before being pulled over by police.

Verona fans once again let themselves down by aiming monkey chants at Nigerian international forward Victor Osimhen. They have a long history of shameful racist abuse which has shown no sign of abating and is usually brushed under the carpet by the Italian authorities. Osimhen managed to ram the taunts down the backs of their throats very nicely by scoring and then doing a crying gesture in celebration in front of the abusers.
