Napoli football club have today announced they are close to the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar from English side QPR.The deal deal is yet to be agreed upon however Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiss has said something more will be know tonight with the Napoli looking to replace aging goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis.

The deal was first believed to be a loan deal however that idea has been rubbished by QPR with manager Harry Redkanpp stating "It's absolutely pointless," "What's the point loaning a player and then he comes back to you the following year on massive wages."He's in his prime at the moment and wanted by many clubs around the world so now is the time really. We need to move on.

"If he wants to leave then he goes and we sell him. Napoli are not short of money. They've just sold a player for £54million so if they want him then they've got to do a deal. "Let's do a deal that suits the football club rather than just doing deals that suit agents and other people."

Napoli who have money to spend due to the recent departure of Edinson Cavani will have no problem playing for the fee and that now looks the most likely route,Should Cesar chose to sign for Napoli he would be the 6th summer signing at Napoli which also include Raul Albiol and Dries Mertens.Should the deal go through the fee for Cesar would be in the region of around £5-8 million pounds.
