Football News: My thoughts on Rangers Football Club's Looming Finance Disaster

My thoughts on Rangers Football Club's Looming Finance Disaster

I'm actually baffled that supposed good business men didn't know what they were signing up to. And why do we continue to find ourselves wrapped up in these Legal battles? In all honesty, it's killing the club internally and externally in my opinion.

All this terrible publicity puts potential investors and any potential decent managers off joining our great Rangers football club, I would assume?

No publicity is bad publicity - don't believe that with regards to our club. I find it damaging and we seem to be once again heading backwards into stormy waters. None of us know if we will sail back into calm waters and when or if it's possible. It will certainly be damaging if we lose the case and have to pay full or even half the amount being mentioned if true?

I wonder when the Park's, Board members etc. will decide they've had enough of it all and decide to walk away? If they have managed to regain their money that they've personally put in, then I could see them walking away, and if so where would that leave us? Where would the club be?

We all talk about the Board not doing things we want and we're not happy with things that have gone on. Well, I say, we're all correct in saying this when once again we find ourselves in Court being sued? A team mismanaged and a team not performing for our Club. And once again another manager shown the door and another rethink on who we can take on, what they will entail, what philosophy they will want implemented and whether the players left will adapt to it.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but we're once again in what feels a perilous position in our Club's history. It's absolutely unthinkable that if certain Board members walked away, we could be in very stormy waters with possibly no lifeboat to come to our rescue?

We're not a club on a straights and narrow path, knowing what it is and where it's going? We go from one atrocity to another, one crazy scenario to another. Just when we thought we had gotten over the dark days, over our troubles and seeing the light and the path was clear in the direction we were going, all of a sudden we're heading back in the wrong direction.

Celtic back in 1994 found themselves in troubled water and at one point looked down and out, along came Fergus McCann and slowly carefully and well planned, slowly breathed life back into them. No matter what anyone thinks of Fergus, the man brought Celtic back from the brink and he built them up to the club they have become today. He also had to ride the waves of abuse and sustain them through a period of uncertainty. Not everyone believed in his visions and practices, yet here almost 20 years later, Celtic are in a great place. They can afford to sign good Managers, good young talent, they make good profit from the sales of talented players, their scouting team do well and they equalled once again 9 in-a-row in the modern era.

Celtic also continue to perform in a professional and sound footing, able to invest in the squad and continue to build their team for the future without what seems any worries and in a professional manner that many can feel proud of in the Celtic family. Fergus McCann deserves a lot of credit and he managed to also turn a profit when he sold them on. He was a unique business man, someone who knew what business was all about and not being a fan of Celtic obviously, I still have respect for the man who built them up from the ashes, and we now all know what that takes and what it means and how it feels to be at the very bottom. So we really have to look where we have been and look where Celtic were and we should compare where we and they are and learn from mistakes made along the way. That's how we adapt and move forward, as you do in life.

Douglas Park is Rangers chief executive and his background and business acumen has the credibility of Fergus McCann. He could if he really wanted turn Glasgow Rangers into a football force if he put his mind and resources to it, with full commitment. Unfortunately, I don't believe he sees it as a viable business and therefore will not commit his full resources into making us a footballing force in Scotland. He doesn't have or lacks the vision for our club in the way Fergus McCann had laid out for Celtic football club.

And that is why we are falling short across many sectors of our club, a chairman who is short sighted who doesn't know if he wants to sell or stay be here or not?
And that is one reason we keep finding ourselves in precarious situations, which I firmly believe could have and should have been avoided.

We have as a club a rich history and a huge passionate support world wide, so why hasn't there been an investor who has stepped forward with the vision and passion of a Fergus McCann and turned our club into a viable business worth investing and building for a viable future to match our successful history?

And why do we keep finding ourselves fighting these ridiculous court cases that do us no good and scare away any potential of decent investors to help our great club move forward.

The court cases that potentially will see us fall backwards spiralling once again to an uncertain future with the men in charge of our club potentially walking away to once again leave us on a precarious cliff edge.

You may think it would not happen and could not happen again, lightning couldn't strike twice, please think again. The hall marks are all there and our club is not the main business model of our chairman and board members. They all have their own ambitions, their own visions and all have a point they have shown they will not cross that could potentially harm their first and foremost business principles and models.

I fear Ibrox, our great club Glasgow Rangers may possibly not be their number one priority, but more of a listing on a long successful Resume to show one day they had been there and done it by owning our esteemed establishment. With it being more of a trophy than actually wanting to turn it into a serious business model the way Fergus McCann turned Celtic around and left them in the capable hands of business men he knew would carry on the Torch. They've done it slowly and done it right and we helped along the way with our own downfall.

Are we going to continue to help them along the way, allow our biggest rivals to continue to dominate and rout our League and gain the free riches of the Champions League money each season while we crawl and fight our way through the Scottish courts paying out of court settlements? Wondering where we will be tomorrow?

I for one don't know the answers, but a precarious cliff edge rightfully or wrongly, I feel where we are once again when you actually look from the outside in. Once again I'm actually worried where we are headed as there seems no clear path or clear vision for our great club's future.
