Contracts

Bristol Rovers' former Chelsea, Manchester City and Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has signed a new 18-month contract.

1.FC Koln have given Austrian winger Florian Kainz a new deal which will expire in 2025.

Veteran Bochum midfielder Anthony Losilla has agreed a contract running until the end of next season.

Wesley Said has signed a deal running until 2026 with Racing Lens.

San Jose Earthquakes full-back Tommy Thompson has signed a 1-year contract with a 1-year club option.

Young Stade Rennais full-back guela Doue is tied down until 2025.

Yannick Pandor will be contracted to Racing Lens until 2026.

Mouctar Diakhaby has agreed a new deal with Valencia which runs out in 2027.

Heart of Midlothian defender Kye Rowles has signed a long-term contract which will not run out until 2028.

Mathias Jensen has extended his Brentford deal until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Transfers

Wolverhampton Wanderers have paid a fee of £4.4m to sign experienced Spain winger Pablo Sarabia from Paris Saint-Germain.

Nottingham Forest have paid around £16m for Brazilian youngster Danilo from Palmeiras as they continue to strengthen in their battle for Premier League survival.

Norwich City winger Tony Springett has joined Derby County on loan.

Huddersfield Town have taken Joseph Hungbo on loan from Watford.

Rotherham United defender Tolaji Bola will spend the rest of the season on loan with Bradford City.

Zac Ashworth has moved to Burton Albion on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Kieran Phillips loan with Morecambe has been ended early due to injury.

Newport County have signed former Everton youngster Harry Charsley from Port Vale.

Another loan to end early due to injury is Tom Edwards' spell with Barnsley. The defender has returned to parent club Stoke City.

Doncaster Rovers have made a double signing, getting Ben Nelson from Leicester City and James Brown from Blackburn Rovers on loan.

Harrogate Town have signed Matthew Foulds on loan from fellow League Two team Bradford City.

Rotherham United defender Jamie McCart has joined Leyton Orient on loan.

Also moving on loan is Logan Chalmers, who has moved to Tranmere Rovers on loan from Dundee United.

Swindon Town have spent an undisclosed fee to sign Liverpool youngster Jake Cain on a permanent deal.

Villareal have taken Ramon Terrats on loan from Girona for their B side.

Genoa striker Kelvin Yeboah has signed for FC Augsburg on loan. Augsburg have also paid nearly £500,000 for another forward in the shape of Irvin Cardona from Stade Brestois. Leaving Augsburg for the same price is experienced forward Florian Niederlechner, who has joined Hertha Berlin.

Croatia's NK Istra have signed Abdallahi Mahmoud on loan from Alaves.

Groningen have taken Aimar Sher on loan from Spezia.

Napoli have loaned Giuseppe Ambrosino to Cittadella.

Espanyol have completed the loan signing of Ronael Pierre-Gabriel from 1.FSV Mainz 05.

Orlando City's Irish midfielder Jake Mulraney has signed for St Patrick's Athletic.

Swapping one Major League Soccer side for another on a free transfer is Josef Martinez who has signed for Inter Miami from Atlanta United.

Lecce midfielder John Bjorkengren has joined Brescia on loan.

Hamburger have signed Noah Katterbach on loan from 1.FC Koln.

Santiago Ascacibar has moved to Estudiantes on loan from Hertha Berlin.

Nantes have paid £350,000 for teenage Paris Saint-Germain full back Jaouen Hadjam.

Union Berlin have sold Julian Ryerson to Borussia Dortmund for £4.4m.

Sint-Truiden have taken Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz on loan.

Nantes have paid just over £1m to sign Florent Mollet from Schalke 04.

Aston Villa's French right-back Frederic Guilbert has moved to Racing Strasbourg on a free transfer.

Girona have paid £4.4m for Dynamo Kyiv winger Viktor Tsygankov.

A fee of £300,000 has taken Tommaso Cassandro to Lecce from Cittadella.

Paul Joly has made a loan move to Dijon from AJ Auxerre. Joining Auxerre is KAA Gent midfielder Elisha Owusu.

Hellas Verona have taken Jayden Braaf on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Ludogorets have paid £600,000 for Franco Russo from RCD Mallorca.

Toulouse have signed Gabriel Suazo from Colo Colo on a free transfer.

Injury Round Up

Job Changes

Manchester City have appointed Maram AlBaharna, previously of The Athletic, as a Football Insights Analyst. She will work for the whole City Group as well as Manchester City itself.

After seven months in charge, Blackpool have sacked head coach Michael Appleton and his assistant David Kerslake. The Tangerines were on a run of just one win in 11 games. The surprising thing was that he ever got a second crack at the job considering his first spell saw him win just two matches in 13 and his record since has been less than impressive.

Southampton have appointed former Disney director Charlie Boss as their new Chief Commercial Officer.

Disciplinary Charges

Police have charged Joseph Watts with assaulting Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after the North London derby win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Watts ran on to the pitch to kick Ramsdale from behind before running off. The 35-year-old has also been charged with throwing a missile onto a football playing area.

Sutton United have hit out at their own fans for their behaviour during two recent matches. The League Two club were unhappy over "poor" fan behaviour, which included two fan invaders, who are now banned from the stadium, and discriminatory chanting which saw an unspecified number of spectators ejected from the ground for using "insulting words that included reference to gender". The club stated: "Sutton United football club will not tolerate any behaviour of these kinds and supports both our match stewards and the police in dealing firmly with any breaches of our ground regulations, and we also fully support the football authorities in additional sanctions. Through our partnership with HerGameToo [campaign against sexism in football] we are fully committed to a zero-tolerance approach to sexist chants and behaviour."

Newport County boss Graham Coughlan and then Crawley Town interim manager Darren Byfield have been fined £500 each following the League Two game between their two sides. The pair were sent off during the 2-2 draw and admitted their behaviour was improper. Crawley have since appointed Scott Lindsey as permanent manager.

At the forthcoming Club World Cup FIFA has taken the decision to trial better communication from the referees over VAR to the stadium. IFAB approved the trial which will not broadcast the discussion between referees and VAR, which is what everyone actually wants, instead it will just relay the conclusion to the crowds. Which seems a bit of a nothing idea.

The Premier League have rejected the idea of a trial of temporary concussion substitutions.

Ineos Announce Interest In United Buy

Ineos, the company owned by one of Britain's richest people Jim Ratcliffe, has formally entered the bidding to buy Manchester United, though why they felt the need to announce it is odd. Ineos already own Lausanne in Switzerland and OGC Nice in France, as well as a number of other sporting venture involvements. Just like his failed (and woefully late) bid for Chelsea, it seems more about getting Ratcliffe public exposure than it does with doing what is best for a takeover. Usually bidders prefer to stay private as long as possible.

Conte Passing The Buck?

Tottenham Hotspur's head coach Antonio Conte told a press conference that it shouldn't be down to him to explain why the club is in a poor run of form. Conte said: "In England I think there's a bad habit that it's only the coach [who] talks and explains. I've never seen the medical department coming here to explain. I've never seen the club or the sporting director coming here to explain the strategy or vision of the club. In Italy, before every game there's a person from the club that goes to speak to the media. I think for us it could be really better, otherwise there is only one face to explain the situation that I think is better for the club to explain. I think it could be good for the club to be present in the media. Not every week, but at least every 15 days or once a month. I think it could be more simple for you to understand, otherwise it can seem [as] if something is a criticism or negative and it's not the case." Though I do think he has a good point, it would be good for the clubs to give more information to fans, who are in essence stakeholders in the clubs, he should have saved it for when the club is in good form to make it. Now it will be lost as a point, people will just remember that he was squirming under pressure.
