Football News: My Current Thoughts On Liverpool FC

My Current Thoughts On Liverpool FC

I want to share my thoughts on the club we all love. First and foremost, we are fans, and want the best for Liverpool FC. We have differing views but want the same thing. FSG and Klopp have come under fire at different times.

FSG, for not spending enough and capitalising on what should have been the glory years, with the last 30 years in mind. I understand this argument. However, what always worked in their favour was having the best in class behind the scenes. Running the club well reflected on our on-pitch performance. Even though I do believe we have been under funded at times, they were good owners for increasing the value of the club. We were the envy of all, recruitment wise.

Klopp, for being to loyal and not spending when funds were available. We all remember the midfield debacle that was last seasons window. Recently, tactics also have to be scrutinised. We fell off a cliff last season.

What concerns me the most is that the apparent strengths Klopp and FSG seemed to have had yesteryear appear to be gone. Behind the scenes, the club seems a mess, with he temporary DoF and multiple cogs in a once well-oiled machine leaving. We seem directionless and the world know it. Arsenal have had one good year and they have now overtaken us in the pecking order.

On the pitch, the tactics are awry at best. I'm not fooled by the run at the end of last season. We still couldn't defend and weren't convincing. That is how this season has started. The new formation is bonkers and leaves further gaps for the opposition to exploit. Despite this, we persevere with the 2-box-3 and haven't addressed the defence by way of new personal.

I hope Endo thrives but can't help but think we are short in the CDM position as well as at CB. We haven't really seen Gomes and Matip in the back three apart from Vs Southampton (last game of the last season) and we shipped 4 goals at home with them starting, to a relegated team!

I will never be Klopp out. He has brought me too much pride and personal joy. I love and respect the man, knowing he could have punched higher than where we were when he took over and I'm grateful. I am loyal to him, have a long memory and remember what is was like supporting Liverpool from the mid 90s. What I fear the most is the recent comparison with Wenger towards the end of his tenure. Yesterdays man. I hope my concern isn't steeped in fact.

In summary, I'm worried. We have so much going forward. Dom Sobz looks like a gem and the KDB heir apparent (though early days). Macca will flourish when he isn't played as the lone CDM. Ahead of them, take your pick and grab the popcorn.

But behind them, Ali (who is a one-man brick wall) aside, Robbo is not a CB. Konate is having to play 2 positions to cover. VVD has started well but last year has me suspicious of any resurgence. Matip shouldn't be at the club and Gomez only looks a player at RB.

I hope we aren't done in the transfer window, and I cross my fingers for 2 more. A holding mid of decent experience and pedigree though, the options are dwindling, and a CB (no idea who).
