Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has been granted day parole after seven months in prison for tax evasion.

From Friday Hoeness will be able to leave work during the day to work, returning to prison in the evening, a common arrangement in Germany.

Bayern have said they will be giving him a job working in the youth department this season.

Hoeness was convicted in March of evading taxes through an undeclared bank account in Switzerland, and sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison.

He started serving his sentence in June.
