Football News: Stubbs shows coaching is not dead

Hibernian of Edinburgh, not the Hibernians of Malta that tried to sign Ched Evans which caused a lot of confusion on social media, have done things the right way this season, in my opinion. They found themselves a highly rated young coach and looked to build in the right way, with a restricted budget and attempting to live within their means.

It took Stubbs a while to turn them around, following last season's relegation and a clear loss of confidence throughout the club, but now he has them playing better and better. He has not brought in over the hill ageing old pros on high wages, unlike one of their main rivals, but by working on the training ground to improve the players as individuals and as a team.

Now the questions surround his ability to build a squad for the long term, can he buy the right players and deal with the issues surrounding players? Can he cope with the pressure of the play offs? If/when Hibs finally do go up, can he get the team playing like he has done against the better quality opposition in the Scottish Prem?

Only time will tell us that, but it is good to see he has been given a bit of time to turn things around, after initial struggles and murmurs from the crowd about his ability. Now he needs to be given backing to carry on, to prove if he is a top class manager or just a good coach.
