Player Attacked In National League

In England's 5th tier, the National League, a substitute was attacked when a group of supporters invaded the pitch. Southport's Jacques Kpohomou was warming up on the side of the pitch during their 3-1 win over Stockport at home when: "a spectator encroached on to the field of play and attacked a Southport player who was warming up on the touchline at the time of the incident." A group of supporters were ejected from the ground by security staff before police officers arrived.

 

Giggs Looking To Help Bale

In his role as Wales manager, Ryan Giggs has said that he will look to help Real Madrid's Gareth Bale steer clear of injuries. Giggs managed to play on until he was 40, after suffering a spate of niggling injuries early on in his career. If that fails, Giggs could always turn to Felix Magath to help Bale out with any injury problems he may have. Still, that would still be better than having Giggs giving out advice over family matters.

 


Poyet Takes Charge At Bordeaux

Struggling French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have turned to former Sunderland and Brighton manager Gus Poyet to replace Jocelyn Gourvennec, who left on Thursday after a 2-0 defeat by Caen. The Uruguayan's last job was manager of Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, who he left in September.

 

McCarthy Suffers Season Ending Injury

Everton midfielder James McCarthy has suffered a horrible double leg fracture in their 1-1 draw with West Brom, after he attempted to stop Baggies striker Salomon Rondon from shooting. In what was a complete accident, the blameless Rondon was left devastated and clearly upset by what he saw and heard. Republic of Ireland international McCarthy was only playing in his 3rd league game of the season after returning from injury.

 

Neilson Leaves MK Dons

Former Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has left MK Dons by 'mutual consent' after a 2-1 defeat to Northampton Town leaves them sat in 21st place in League One. Neilson took them to a 12th place finish last season.

 

Malcom Admits Premier League Dream

Bordeaux's young Brazilian superstar Malcom has said it is his dream to play in the English Premier League. Asked about his desire to move to the Premier League, he said: "Yes, it's a dream. It's a dream for all players and for me it's no different. But as long as I'm here, I have to do my job well."

 

Madrid Hit By Vallejo Injury Blow

With Real Madrid struggling to qualify for next season's Champions League, currently sitting in 5th in La Liga after Valladolid won to move above them, young defender Jesus Vallejo has suffered a hamstring injury that could rule the 21 year old out for up to 2 months. Vallejo has only just broken into the Madrid side, after Sergio Ramos was ruled out through injury.
