Football News: is it now time for Wenger to move on
This is a tough question for all the Arsenal fans, but is it now time for Wenger to move on?
On the face of it, his past record as manager should be all he needs to point at to ensure no one questions him. Unfortunately though, recent years have not been successful.
Questions can be asked about so much surrounding the club, from buying policy, wages, injuries, tactics and so on. There seems a real lack of ambition, despite the ridiculously high ticket prices, the club is aiming to finish in the top 4 only.
For me though, the main issue is Wenger, he is too loyal, lacking in the real ruthlessness needed to manage at this level. Far too many players are there with their feet under the table for far too long.
How can it be excused that so many years have passed since Gilberto Silva left, yet he has still not been replaced? What possible excuse can any manager have for such a major oversight?
Instead he buys lots more lightweight attacking midfielders, even though the club has a large number of players exactly like that already on the books. Where are the defenders to replace those that left?
Time catches up to everyone eventually, it seems it has caught up with Arsene too. It does seem the board are just happy to plod along getting top four and Champions League money each season, with no real desire to push for trophies.
