Morton captain Thomas O'Ware has moved to Partick Thistle. O'Ware was the top scoring defender in Europe last season with 11 goals, albeit in the Scottish Championship.

Former AC Milan midfielder Yoann Gourcuff has been released by Rennes.

Chilean forward Nicolas Castillo has returned to European football after Benfica paid over £5m for his services from Pumas of Mexico. Castillo had a spell with Bruges that was unsuccessful and saw him loaned to the likes of FSV Mainz 05.

Pellegrino Back In Charge

Just a few months after being replaced as manager of Southampton, Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino is back in a management job. The 46 year old has returned to Spanish football to take charge of Leganes on a one year deal.

Williams Comeback Ends In Punctured Lung

Everton defender Ashley Williams has been missing through injury for almost three months and finally returned to action in a friendly for Wales against Mexico. Unfortunately for the former Swansea man, he collided with Mexico and West Ham United forward Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez and suffered multiple breaks on two of his ribs and was taken off after 20 minutes. He was taken to hospital where it was found that his left lung had been punctured and collapsed in the accident. Williams said on social media: "Look forward to flying home and resting up now before the new season. [A] crazy couple of weeks. Great to be back in a FA Wales shirt and with the lads. However after coming off after 20 minutes with multiple breaks on two ribs, I went to hospital and found out I had punctured my left lung which led to it collapsing."

Mexico Boss Reveals Bielsa Mentioned Leeds Interest 3 Weeks Ago

The head coach of Mexico, Juan Carlos Osorio, has given his backing to Marcelo Bielsa to be a success if he takes the Leeds United job. Leeds head coach Paul Heckingbottom was sacked on Friday, but Osorio has claimed that Bielsa was aware that Leeds were interested in him for the role three weeks ago. Osorio said: "He's a top man and a top manager and he'll do well. In my visit there three weeks ago, I spoke to him and he mentioned it to me and I'm very pleased. I think that league, the Premier League and the English league will be his ultimate goal and hopefully he'll get there."

Pogba Suffers Catcalls From France Fans

France and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been on the end of some boos and whistles from his own fans while playing for his country in a friendly against Italy. After his abysmal speculative shot failed to impress them, to say the least, you could clearly hear boos from the France fans. Pogba's France team-mate Antoine Griezmann said: "The whistles are part of football, you have to stay tough mentally. We're all playing for the same shirt. He plays his game, you're used to him scoring. We don't expect that from him, only that he rotates the ball and plays for the team. He has had a difficult season at Manchester United but he has a lot of confidence in himself."

Dembele Best Young Player In The World

PSG and France forward Kylian Mbappe is one of those players who could easily be considered as the best young player in the world, but he is in no doubt that his France team-mate Ousmane Dembele is deserving of that accolade. Dembele has had a difficult time, mainly through injuries, since joining Barcelona last summer but Mbappe said of him: "It's a promising partnership. We get on well, we appreciate each other. I've always wanted to play with great players. I have two top players [next to me]: Antoine, top 10; Ousmane, the best young player in the world, for me. We all try to help each other."

Werner Hints At Move From Leipzig

German forward Timo Werner has hinted at a move away from RB Leipzig, which is sure to throw fresh fire on the move rumours that have surrounded him this summer. Werner has scored 42 goals in 77 games for RBL but thinks he needs a move to better himself. Werner told die Welt: "To become a world class player I probably need to play for an even better team at the club level. I want to be honest. Naby Keita didn't become a world class player with us, but he could possibly become one now at Liverpool."
