Transfers

Plymouth Argyle have taken goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne on loan for the season from newly promoted Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Former Nottingham Forest defender Matt Mills has been released by Barnsley.

QPR have released a trio of over 30s. Nedum Onuoha, Jamie Mackie and James Perch are all looking for new clubs.

Young winger Harvey St Clair has left Chelsea to join Serie B side Venezia in search of first team football. The 19 year old impressed a number of clubs while representing Scotland in the Toulon Tournament this summer, but chose Venezia as the option most likely to give him the games he craves.

Narrow Defeat For Ed001's Valiant Heroes

Of course the biggest news of the weekend was the inaugural annual Football-Rumours charity match - the Matt Hawker Cup. Ed002's snappily named Walham Green East Wapping, Carpet Cleaning Rodent and Boggit Exterminating Association sneaked a close (and incredibly flukey) 4-0 win over the badly misnamed Ed001's team 'Just Like Watching Brazil'. All money raised will be split between the chosen charities of Seva and MacMillan Nurses. Any late donations can be sent to the paypal address xbox360account165@hotmail.co.uk. The £1000 original target has been raised. A big thank you to benny baller for organising it, the referee for turning up and heavily favouring Ed002's team, Ken and Ed002 for buying the kits, all who donated (special mention to a fantastic gesture by Cheshire Red who made the total up to £1000 by donating generously last night) and everyone who took part or spectated. I really cannot say thanks enough to you all. Even though my team was robbed of a well deserved victory.... Next year will be our year! A full match report will follow later.

Salah Fit To Face Russia

Egypt's FA have said that star forward Mohamed Salah was fit to play against Uruguay but his coach, Hector Cuper, did not want to risk him. Hector Cuper said: "Mo Salah is an extremely important player for us, nobody can deny that, but you need to have a good team, and we have a good team. Perhaps if Mo had been on the pitch today the outcome would have been different but we can't know that. Certainly he has contributed a great amount to the team and will contribute in future matches. We wanted to avoid any risks in this match, but I think he will be fine for the next game." There was further good news from the Egypt camp as midfielder Tarek Hamed, who was their standout player in the first match until injury forced him off, will also be fit to face the host nation.

Palermo Lodge Appeal Against Frosinone's Promotion To Serie A

After losing a bad-tempered play off match with Frosinone, which left Palermo in Serie B while Frosinone won a return to the top flight, Palermo have lodged an appeal to block the promotion and threatened to sue the opposition coach, Moreno Longo. The game was chaotic with Frosinone going into the final stages 1-0 up. Frosinone players were caught on camera throwing loose balls onto the pitch to stop the play and the game was ended prematurely as a pitch invasion led to the referee calling time. Palermo president Giovanni Giammarva said: "We have lodged a written appeal to have the result frozen." Giammarva has also been angered by comments from Longo regarding Palermo's finances and suggested they will take legal action against the Frosinone coach. Longo said: "We are a model club and the President should be thanked for building a new stadium and keeping the books balanced. Otherwise, a club would've gone into Serie A that didn't have its finances in order."
