Transfers

Serie A team SPAL have taken Algerian midfielder Mohamed Fares on loan from Serie B's Verona.

VfL Wolfsburg signed keeper Pavao Pervan. The experienced Austrian has joined from Austrian Bundesliga side LASK Linz.

The other Wolves, English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, are awaiting international clearance for Portugal keeper Rui Patricio. The 30 year old is one of the players who served notice to Sporting CP that they were terminating their contracts with the club.

Rangers have loaned out midfielder Jason Holt to League One's Fleetwood Town. The 25 year old will be working with former team mate Joey Barton, who will be managing Fleetwood next season.

Frosinone have moved to strengthen their side with the arrival of midfielders Raman Chibsah and Andrea Beghetto. Chibsah has been signed from Benevento, while Beghetto was with Genoa. They have also signed Italian keeper Francesco Bardi from Inter Milan.

Serbian centre back Nenad Tomovic has swapped Fiorentina for Verona. Verona paid £2.25m for his services.

Forest Green Rovers have completed their seventh signing of the summer by completing the free agent signing of Welsh keeper Lewis Thomas. The 20 year old was released by Swansea City.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 international defender Sean McGinty has left Torquay United to join Partick Thistle.

Following an excellent season on loan with League One's Shrewsbury Town, Manchester United youngster Dean Henderson has stepped up to the Championship for next season. The 21 year old keeper will spend next season with Sheffield United.

Rangers midfielder Michael O'Halloran has moved to Melbourne City from Rangers. The 27 year old took advice from Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy before deciding to take the deal.

Stevenage defender Fraser Franks has moved to Newport County on a two year deal. Midfielder Tom Evan-Owens has left the Welsh side to join Falkirk.

Ben Hall has returned to Notts County on loan for the season from Brighton. Hall was on loan with County last season as well.

Jermaine McGlashan has signed a two year deal with Swindon Town following his release from Southend United.

Macclesfield Town have completed the permanent signing of Nathan Blissett from Plymouth Argyle. The striker had been on loan with Macclesfield in the second half of last season.

Monaco's French starlet Thomas Lemar has signed a contract with Atletico Madrid. The 22 year old still has to pass a medical to finalise the deal.

Sunderland Accept Bid For McNair

Local rivals Middlesbrough have had a bid accepted for Sunderland's Northern Ireland defender Paddy McNair. The 23 year old is set to leave as Sunderland look to reduce their wage bill following relegation to League One. Brighton & Hove Albion have had two bids rejected for McNair.

Allen Signs New Deal

Despite Stoke City's relegation to the Championship, Wales midfielder Joe Allen has signed a new 4 year contract, which extends his deal with the Potters by a season. Allen said: "Tony Scholes made it very clear the club weren't interested in selling me. That stance from the club, coupled with how settled I am here, how happy I am and how much I've enjoyed it, made it pretty straightforward for me."

Leicester Have Maddison Bid Accepted

Leicester City have had a bid of about £20m accepted for Norwich City midfielder James Maddison. The 21 year old had an excellent season in the Championship last season and has been the subject of much speculation over his future, which now seems to be heading towards the East Midlands.

Croatia Send Kalinic Home

Croatian forward Nikola Kalinic has been sent home from the World Cup squad after he refused to come on as a substitute. The 30 year old claimed he had a back problem, something the coach, Zlatko Dalic, says he has done a few times. Dalic said: "During the Nigeria encounter, Kalinic was warming up and was supposed to come on in the second half. However, he then stated that he wasn't ready to come on due to a back issue. The same thing happened during the Brazil friendly in England, as well as before the practice session on Sunday. I have calmly accepted that and since I need my players fit and ready to play, I have made this decision." You have to wonder at the mentality of a player refusing to come on as a sub in the World Cup. They might never have another chance of playing there in their career. You surely have to just make the most of it?

Saudi Arabian Team Plane Catches Fire

The 5-0 thrashing at the hands of host team Russia has been followed up by an engine fire as the Saudi Arabian team flew to Rostov-on-Don to face Uruguay. All players and officials arrived safely, despite the fire.

Aleti Pair Extend Contracts

Atletico Madrid officials have been busy during the World Cup, as well as getting Lemar's signature on a contract, they have also got Antoine Griezmann and Lucas Hernandez to sign contract extensions.

Brewster Signs New Liverpool Deal

After months of looking like exciting youngster Rhian Brewster was going to leave Liverpool over his lack of first team chances, the 18 year old has signed a new professional contract. He had previously left Chelsea at the age of 14 after failing to see a route into the first team, and was close to doing the same thing at Liverpool. However after talks with manager Jurgen Klopp, who has promoted the teenager into the first team squad, Brewster has decided to stay put and try and force his way into Klopp's plans.
