Transfers

Everton have completed the second signing of the Silva era as French left back Lucas Digne arrives for a fee of £18m from Barcelona.

Liverpool teenager Ben Woodburn has joined Sheffield United on loan for the season. The 18 year old holds the record for youngest goalscorer with Liverpool, when he scored in the EFL Cup against Leeds United in 2016 aged just 17.

Speaking of Leeds and they have allowed a pair of midfielders to leave the club. Former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Luke Murphy was released, while England U-21 international Ronaldo Vieira (with a name like that he has a lot to live up to!) has been sold to Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee of just under £6m.

Nottingham Forest have signed veteran free agent goalkeeper Luke Steele on a 2 year deal. The 33 year old was released by Bristol City in the summer. Leaving Forest is Greek keeper Stefanos Kapino, who has joined Werder Bremen of the Bundesliga for £270,000.

Crawley Town have completed a double signing of free agents. Defender David Sesay had been released by Watford, while midfielder Tarryn Allarakhia had been with Colchester United.

AFC Wimbledon have taken left back Ben Purrington on a season-long loan deal from Rotherham United.

Free agent veteran James Perch has joined Scunthorpe United. The 32 year old was released by QPR.

Aston Villa have taken Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Andre Moreira on a season-long loan deal.

Another free agent goalkeeper on the move is Finnish international Niki Maenpaa, who has signed for Bristol City, who lost regular number one for a number of months with a hip injury. Maenpaa had been on trial with Bristol since the start of pre-season after being released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sunderland defender Lamine Kone has headed to Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg on loan for the season. The Mackems have added a striker to their squad as Charlie Wyke was signed for an undisclosed fee from Bradford City.

Defender Baily Cargill, who was released by Bournemouth at the end of the season, has joined MK Dons on a free transfer.

Brighton winger Jordan Maguire-Drew has joined Wrexham on a season-long loan.

Preston North End have sold striker Eoin Doyle to Bradford City for an undisclosed fee.

Crystal Palace have spent just under £10m (undisclosed of course) to sign midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate from West Ham United.

AS Roma have released Brazilian centre back Leandro Castan.

Celta Vigo have paid over £7m for teenage Spanish midfielder Fran Beltran from Rayo Vallecano.

Sevilla have sold winger Joaquin Correa to Lazio for £13.5m. Lazio have also complete the free signing of Croatian midfielder Milan Badelj from Fiorentina.

Defender Timothee Kolodziejczak has returned to French football on loan from Tigres UANL of the Mexican Liga MX. The 26 year old will be playing for Saint-Etienne next season.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones has moved to Al Nasr of the Saudi Professional League on a free transfer from Feyenoord.

Former Tottenham Hotspur youth striker Reo Griffiths has joined Lyon on a free transfer.

 

Egypt Appoint New Coach

Egypt's FA have appointed the replacement for Hector Cuper, who left after the World Cup. Mexican manager Javier Aguirre will lead the national team after agreeing a 4 year deal. Aguirre coached Mexico to the last 16 of the World Cup finals in 2002 and 2010.

 

Sporting Seek 187m Euros In Compensation

Sporting Clube de Portugal are looking for nearly 200m euros in compensation for the 3 players who requested contract termination before joining other clubs. Wolverhampton Wanderers signed goalkeeper Rui Patricio, Atletico Madrid added winger Gelson Martins to their squad and Olympiakos signed winger Daniel Podence. Sporting are asking for 57m euros for Patricio, 100m euros for Martins and 30m euros for Podence via the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

 

Nasri Ban Extended

Former Manchester City and Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri's doping ban has been extended to 18 months from 6 months. Nasri is currently a free agent, having been released by Turkish side Antalyaspor.
