Serbia Drop Milivojevic
Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic has been dropped by Serbia for the first UEFA Nations League games, after his criticism of head coach Mladen Krstajic "bad choice" in the World Cup. After the loss to Brazil Milivojevic said: "Our manager had his opinion, something he wanted to try, and in the end we lost. We tried to take risks where, in my opinion, we did not have to. I think we should have been more experienced and played for a result in the last 15 minutes."

Celtic Give Up On McKenna

Viral Carpet Video Leads To New Kit
FC Rostov have released a fourth kit designed to look like the 'lucky' carpet that viral social media footage showed a fan waving in the crowd during a game. With the kind of superstitious thinking that used to see me go miles out of my way to walk to home games from the city centre after we won a game when I had walked from there once, one fan of Rostov took a carpet to a home match after his team lost their previous home game. They won 4-0 and footage of the rug being waved about in the stands went viral. Rostov have been quick to cash in by releasing a kit with the carpet's design emblazoned on it.
Kashia Becomes First To Win UEFA #EqualGame Award
UEFA have announced the first recipient of their new #EqualGame award is to be Georgia captain Guram Kashia. The award is for players who have "acted as a role model promoting diversity, inclusion and accessibility in European football". Kashia has been chosen after he wore a rainbow armband while playing for Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem last season, which led to riots, smoke bombs, flares and a rainbow flag being burned in his homeland, while the player himself was threatened and abused. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: "Guram has taken an important stand to support the LGBT community and equality overall and deserves to win this award. Even though his actions sparked threats and abuse from many groups, he preached tolerance and acceptance, and helped change perceptions of this minority group in his native country of Georgia." Kashia now plays for San Jose Earthquakes in MLS.
La Liga Players Threaten Strike Action
Spanish league plans to play a top-flight league match in the USA have been threatened by the players' union who are not ruling out strike action if La Liga does not listen to their concerns. President of the union (AFE) David Aganzo said: "The problem is the lack of common sense, a schedule where only the export of soccer benefits - nobody counts on the fans. We need to fix it with the bosses. The captains are outraged, they're against it, they are unanimous. It does not make sense. We are talking about an agreement that has a validity of 15 years without consulting the players."
FIFA Corruption Sweep Sees First Jail Term Handed Out
The first of the seven FIFA officials to be arrested in Zurich back in 2015 has been convicted and jailed. Jose Maria Marin is a former head of the Brazilian FA and he was convicted of accepting bribes from sports marketing companies for contract to broadcast tournaments. Marin was jailed for four years for corruption as well as being fined $1.2m and ordered to forfeit a further £3.34m.
