Transfers

Birmingham City forward Greg Stewart is returning to Scottish football to sign Kilmarnock on a season-long loan deal. The Blues bought him from Dundee and he also spent last season on loan in Scotland with Aberdeen.

Denetri Mitchell has returned to Hearts on loan from Manchester United for the season. The young full-back was there on loan last season after January but two months through injury.

Yeovil Town have taken Bradford City striker Omari Patrick on loan until January.

Free agent defender Tyrone Mears has joined West Bromwich Albion on a short term contract until January. The 35 year old has been in MLS football for the last few years.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have sent winger Jordan Graham on loan to Ipswich Town for a season-long loan.

Midfielder Kellan Gordon has signed for Lincoln City on loan until January from Derby County.

Teenage midfielder Tristan Nydam has joined St Johnstone on loan from Ipswich Town until January.

Harry Bunn has signed for Southend United on a season-long loan deal from Bury.

Teenage striker Ben Brereton has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan with a view to a permanent £7m deal in January from Nottingham Forest.

AS Roma have sold another high profile player as Dutch international midfielder Kevin Strootman has joined Marseille for just over £22m.

Spanish international forward Paco Alcacer has moved on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent for just over £22m at the end of the season. The 24 year old joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2016 but struggled to force his way into the team. Dortmund have paid a 2m euro loan fee.

Guingamp have signed midfielder Guessouma Fofana from SC Amiens for a fee of just under £1m.

Belgian defender Laurent Ciman has swapped MLS football with Los Angeles FC to move to France with Dijon.

AS Monaco have signed German defender Benjamin Henrichs from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of around £18m.

Ivory Coast international striker Seydou Doumbia has moved to Girona on a free transfer Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Miller Set For Dundee

After a short spell as player-manager of Livingston ended in an acrimonious split recently, with Kenny Miller refusing to hang up his boots just yet, the 38 year old forward is about to sign for Dundee as a player. Dundee are currently being managed by former Rangers team-mate Neil McCann.

England Veteran Pair Step Aside For Youth

The 31 year old Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy and 32 year old Chelsea defender Gary Cahill have withdrawn from England selection for now, to allow England manager Gareth Southgate to look to younger players. Vardy told the Guardian: "This has been on my mind for a while. I'm not getting any younger and you can see, to be fair to the gaffer, he wants to make it more youthful, which obviously had its benefits during the World Cup. Gareth said that he felt I still had a lot to offer, and we've not shut the door completely. If the worst came to happen and everyone was injured, then obviously I wouldn't say no." Cahill had similar comments for Chelsea TV: "I can see it is now going to a younger generation and I think it is the perfect time for me to take a step back. I've been hugely honoured to play for my country and I would never shut the door. I've said that if there are injuries in the future and I'm needed to come and play then, of course, I'm available."

Toure's Agent Takes Swipe At Hammers

Over the hill free agent stroller Yaya Toure has taken a medical in London ahead of joining a new club, according to his agent Dimitry Seluk. However he had a scathing reply when it was suggested the Ivorian cake eating champion could be joining West Ham United. Seluk said on social media: "It's not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him."
