Football News: Is making a dream move the right move?

With reports today of Genoa left back Luca Antonelli revealing that his dream is to play for Liverpool, it made me think about recent players making that dream move and whether it is really a good idea.

Ricky Lambert, for instance, achieved his dream move and went from an almost certain starter at Southampton, to the bench at Liverpool, at least until the last couple of games, when both Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli were unavailable to Brendan Rodgers.

At the other end of the scale, in a way, was youngster Nick Powell, who joined Manchester United as an exciting talented 17 year old, but has barely featured for them, and this season is not even able to force his way into Leicester while on loan there.

Perhaps it takes a talent like Cristiano Ronaldo has to make that dream move and be able to make it work, as he did on joining Real Madrid, who he had always openly admitted was where he wanted to be.

To me, it always seems like a player who has just made that dream move does one of two things, they either try way too hard and never relax and play their game, or they seem to think they have it made and never really put the effort in they should.

I think it takes that supreme self-confidence that Ronaldo possesses to make your dream move and then make it work.
