Review of the Day

County Turn To Ardley

Struggling Notts County have appointed former AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley as their new manager to replace Harry Kewell who they sacked ten days ago. County are 23rd of 24 teams and without a victory in 6 matches.

Bantams Sign Henry

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Karl Henry has joined Bradford City on a short term contract. The 35 year old was a free agent after being released by Bolton Wanderers in the summer and is contracted to Bradford for just 2 months.

FC Basel Leave Out Women's Team From Anniversary Gala

The women's FC Basel team were not invited to their 125th Anniversary Gala, though they did get them to come in and sell tombola tickets while the men's side sat down to a 3-course meal with guests. They were given sandwiches away from the guests afterwards.

Kante Signs New Long Term Deal

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has signed a new 5 year deal. The unassuming but superb French World Cup winning star has tied himself to the club until 2023 despite plenty of interest from other clubs in his signature. Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: "When he arrived, we knew we had signed a special player - but he has astounded everybody with his tireless and unselfish displays. Off the pitch, he remains a dedicated professional and a humble human being, despite the fact he is a world champion and a two-time Premier League winner. We now look forward to five more years with N'Golo at the heart of the Chelsea midfield."

Alcacer Completes Permanent Dortmund Deal

Spanish striker Paco Alcacer has made his loan deal into a permanent one as he signs a 5 year deal with Borussia Dortmund. Alcacer had been on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona, but has scored goals at an average of one every 44 minutes, which saw Dortmund push through a permanent deal. He has also scored 3 goals in 2 matches for his country after his form earned him a recall after over 2 years out of the squad.

Madrid Deny Ramos Doping Rumours

After Der Spiegel claimed that Sergio Ramos had tested positive for an anti-inflammatory drug (hard to believe there is anything anti-inflammatory about Ramos!) in the Champions League final, Real Madrid have denied they did anything wrong. The positive result was for a drug called dexmethasone, which is legal is testers are informed of its usage ahead of time, but Madrid had reported he was using a different drug. Madrid say the club doctor made a mistake and UEFA accepted an apology. A Real Madrid statement read: "Ramos has never breached the anti-doping control regulations. Uefa requested timely information and closed the matter immediately, as is usual in these cases, after verification by the experts themselves." It does prompt the question, what is the point of banning substances if you then allow them if you are told they are using them? I do not doubt it was a simple mistake by Madrid, but it does seem pointless in having a banned list when there are so many exceptions. Especially when the winners always seem to be the ones making use of the exceptions, it leaves things feeling a little unclean.

Ferri Crosses To Nimes

French midfielder Jordan Ferri has moved on loan for the rest of the season from Olympique Lyon to Nimes Olympique. The 26 year old has spent his entire career so far with Lyon.

Teams Release FIFA Kits

Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will all have a 4th kit specifically for use in the EA Sport's FIFA 19 video game. The kits are apparently never going to be used in competitive football, though of course all 4 teams will sell those kits in real life as well as them being available on FIFA.
