Sharp Sets EFL Record

Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has surpassed Ricky Lambert's tally of 219 English Football League goals with his 5th goal in 4 games in the Blades victory over Wigan Athletic. Sharp's 220 goals make him the highest total scorer in the EFL this century. The 32 year old has 16 goals so far this season as Sheff Utd challenge for a return to the Premier League.

Transfers

Walsall have taken Norwich City winger Matt Jarvis on loan for the rest of the season. Jarvis has previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, but the 32 year old has struggled with injury in recent years. He has arrived to cover for the loss of Ginnelly.

Preston North End have paid an undisclosed fee to Walsall for 21 year old winger Josh Ginnelly. The winger will have to wait until 12 January before he is eligible for his debut due to being cup-tied.

Emerson Hyndman has returned to Bournemouth after his 6 month loan spell with Hibs ended. The 22 year old American international made 17 appearances and was hoping to extend his stay north of the border but Bournemouth have been reduced to just 2 first team specialist central midfielders fit.

Wolves have signed teenage winger David Wang from Spanish 4th tier outfit Jumilla B on a 4 and a half year deal and then loaned him straight out to Sporting Clube de Portugal. The winger is expected to play for their B team for the rest of the season.

Striker Joe Mason has returned to Wolves after his loan spell in League One with Portsmouth finished.

Tigers Rule Out Bowen Sale

Hull City have ruled out the sale of their top scorer Jarrod Bowen after the striker scored his 11th goal of the season. Manager Nigel Adkins has also said he wants to hold onto Polish winger Kamil Grosicki. Adkins said: "We don't want to lose him or any player. We are going well, climbing the table and have momentum. I will speak to the owners over the next couple of days. We talked transfer-wise leading in January, but obviously this forward momentum now hopefully encourages everyone a bit more. If anything we want to be bring players in. We are certainly not looking to lose Jarrod or Kamil. We want to keep improving what we are doing, especially when we have got this togetherness. There is a belief about everybody. Because of this momentum we have put ourselves in a better position to be a bit more positive."

Villa Hit By Injuries

Aston Villa will have to manage without playmaker Jack Grealish for the rest of January because of a bone stress injury. Manager Dean Smith has said: "He's out of the protective boot now and walking without pain. With those injuries, time is the biggest healer but he feels good at the moment. In my head, I've probably ruled him out for January but hopefully I could be surprised." Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon, which led to Villa recalling Jed Steer from his loan at Charlton Athletic. Smith is also going to have to cope without on-loan Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe for 2 months after he had foot surgery.

Boyle Suffers International Injury

Hibernian winger Martin Boyle has suffered what was termed a "contact injury" to his knee while on international duty with Australia during their 5-0 Asian Cup win over Oman. Boyle has now returned to Hibs to work on his rehabilitation.

Llorente Suffers Injury

Another injury as Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has suffered a groin injury, just as the youth academy graduate began to impose himself on the first team. Llorente is set to miss around 3 weeks due to the injury.
