Transfers

Reading striker Sam Smith has joined Shrewsbury Town on loan until the end of the season. The 20 year old had been on a season-long loan with Oxford United which was cut short after he only started 5 games.

Birmingham City forward Greg Stewart has returned to Aberdeen on loan for the rest of the season.

Former Rangers player Michael O'Halloran has returned to another former club St Johnstone after his release from Australian A-League side Melbourne City.

St Mirren have brought in a duo to strengthen the team. Winger Kyle McAllister has returned from Derby County on loan while Bournemouth goalkeeper Jordan Holmes has also arrived on loan.

French midfielder Tony Andreu is another who returns to a former club as he rejoins Hamilton Academical from Coventry City on loan.

Matt Worthington has returned to Yeovil Town on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

Exeter City have added two players, Watford winger Randell Williams on a free transfer and Jaden Brown on loan until the end of the season.

Oldham Athletic have also added a couple of signings with Spanish striker Urko Vera from Athletic Bilbao and defender Sonhy Sefil from Lyon Duchere AS.

Oxford United have sold full-back Cameron Norman for an undisclosed fee to Walsall.

Free agent Swedish midfielder Kerim Mrabti has joined Birmingham City on an 18 month deal. The 24 year old left Djurgardens at the end of the Swedish season in November.

Former West Ham United youngster George Moncur has joined Luton Town from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

An undisclosed fee has been paid for Yeovil Town winger Jordan Green by Barnsley to sign the 23 year old.

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Grayson has joined Grimsby Town on loan for the rest of the season.

Danny Elliott has joined Port Vale after the 25 year old went on trial with the club, following his return from university football in the USA and a spell in Dominican Republic.

Just 2 weeks after leaving the club to join Ipswich Town, defender Janoi Donacien has returned to Accrington Stanley on loan.

Midfielder Reece Cole has joined Macclesfield Town on loan from Brentford.

Another undisclosed fee has been spent, this time by Swindon Town on defender Tom Broadbent from Bristol Rovers.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse has joined Cardiff City on loan with an option to make it permanent.

Martin O'Neill has made his first signing for Nottingham Forest in the shape of Leicester City centre back Yohan Benalouane, who has joined on an 18 month contract for an undisclosed fee.

Celtic forward Jack Aitchison has joined Alloa Athletic on loan.

Free agent former Barcelona forward Isaac Cuenca has joined Japanese J-League side Sagan Tosu.

Cagliari have spent around £4.5m to sign Filip Bradaric from Croatian side HNK Rijeka. Bradaric spent the first half of the season on loan with the Italian club.

Young Spanish forward Toni Martinez has joined CD Lugo of Spain's second tier on loan from West Ham United.

Former Liverpool winger Toni Silva has moved to Egyptian Premier League side Ittehad from Mamelodi Sundowns of the South African ABSA Premiership.

Brazilian striker Jonatas has returned to Hannover 96 at the end of his loan spell with Corinthians.

 

Contracts

Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton has signed a new long term contract. The 29 year old, who was such a big part of the Foxes unlikely Premier League title run, is now tied down until 2022.

Young centre back Jules Kounde has signed a contract extension with Girondins Bordeaux which expires in 2023.

West Ham United youngster Grady Diangana has been given a new deal with the London club. The 20 year old's new deal runs until 2025.

Former Sunderland forward Dame N'Doye has agreed a new deal with FC Copenhagen which sees the 33 year old contracted until 2020.

Cagliari's veteran centre back Fabio Pisacane has extended his contract until 2020 with the option for a further year.

Heart of Midlothian full-back Michael Smith is now tied down until 2021.

Anton Ferdinand has extended his St Mirren deal until the end of the season.

On-loan Rangers forward Ryan Hardie has signed a new deal with his parent club which will expire in 2020. The 21 year old Scottish forward is on loan with Livingston.

Kelvin Etuhu has extended his deal with Carlisle United until 2020.

Bolton Wanderers have had their registration embargo lifted and immediately extended the contracts for Gary O'Neil and Remi Matthews.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Paul Smyth has extended his contract until 2021.

 

Tuchel Wants Signings

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel is looking for the club to sign players to strengthen his squad. Tuchel said: "There are 14 days left (of the transfer window), it's short, but we work on it every day, every night. I have confidence in the club so we can recruit players."

 

Swansea Still Paying For Premier League Mistakes

Swansea City coo Chris Pearlman has admitted the club are still struggling to pay off the mistakes the club made while desperately fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Pearlman has responded to supporter's criticisms of the club's sales last summer confirming the club needs to make further savings due to the turnover being halved. Pearlman responded to questions about money to spend in January by saying: "I would say the honest answer is there could be resources, but is there a pile of money out there to spend? There's not. If we spend money now, it's money we'd have to figure out a way to save later. If there are ways we can improve within the parameters we have, we'll certainly look to do that, but at the same time I'd be lying to supporters if I said there's a big chunk of money out there to buy a lot of players, there's not."

 

Ipswich Fans Sentenced After Beer Fight Damage At Norwich's Stadium

Four Ipswich Town fans have been given suspended jail sentences after they pleaded guilty to criminal damage before the derby match with Norwich City. The game had to be delayed after damage to the fittings and electric wires when a group of Ipswich fans began a beer fight, with some fans swinging on a light fitting, which was torn from the ceiling leaving live electric wires exposed in the bar, while the floor was swilling with liquid. Radio wires and the stadium lights were also affected by the damage which cost nearly £6,000 to repair. The quartet were also banned from football matches for three years and given 150 hours of community service, as well as having to pay £1,164 in compensation each, £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £115.

 

Reading And Forest Fined

The Football Association has fined both Reading and Nottingham Forest have admitted a charge of failing to control their players following an on-pitch melee between the two sides. Forest ended the game with 9 men and have been fined £10,000, while Reading's fine was half as much.

 

Fulham Hit By Bizarre Injury

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri has revealed that defender Alfie Mawson has been ruled out through a knee injury picked up while changing his boots in the dressing room. The 24 year old centre back has been out since 29th December with the injury and Ranieri said: "It was a very strange injury. He just changed his boots. It was unbelievable. He needs more time. How long? I don't know." Ranieri will also be without Aboubakar Kamara, who has been left out after a long running series of disciplinary problems, which culminated in a training ground bust-up with Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic last week. Ranieri confirmed that he will not be considering Kamara for selection.

 

Rivaldo Joins Moroccan Club

Former World Footballer of the Year Rivaldo has joined a third division Moroccan club called Chabab Mohammmedia as their technical director. The team is currently topping the 3rd Division.

 

Huddersfield Approach Dortmund

Huddersfield Town have made an enquiry about Borussia Dortmund coach Jan Siewert as they seek to replace David Wagner as their manager. Siewert is coach of Dortmund's reserve team, the same role Wagner was in before joining Huddersfield.

 

Cowdenbeath Upset With Postponed Match

Cowdenbeath have claimed that their pitch at Central Park was playable, despite their Scottish 4th round cup tie with Rangers being postponed due to a frozen pitch. Cowdenbeath director Tom Ewing said: "The referee's made his decision and we've got to abide by that, but we are hugely disappointed. We didn't call the referee in. We felt the pitch was fine."

 

Hammers Leave Arnautovic Out

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has been left out of the squad for today's match with Bournemouth. The 29 year old Austrian forward has an offer on the table from a Chinese side, though no fee has yet been agreed between the clubs, with his brother, who is also his agent, having publicly stated that he would like to leave.
