Transfers

Despite their precarious position in Ligue 1, Monaco have loaned winger Samuel Grandsir to league rivals Racing Strasbourg.

James Dismisses Leeds Interest

Swansea City winger Daniel James has been linked with a move to Leeds United but dismisses the links as just rumours. James said: "I'm enjoying my football at the moment, but to me it's all just rumours. I see it on the internet all the time and everyone is asking me. From my point of view there's nothing concrete in it at all. Whenever anyone asks me, I just laugh. I haven't heard anything, but I'm just concentrating on here."

Spurs Hit By Another Injury

Tottenham Hotspur have been hit by another injury, just after it was revealed that Harry Kane will be out for 2 months. During Spurs' win over Fulham on Sunday, midfielder Dele Alli pulled up with a hamstring injury and is now set to join his England team-mate on the sidelines. The North Londoners have already sold Mousa Dembele this January and lost Moussa Sissoko as well but are hoping to have Lucas Moura back in the team.

Scholes In Oldham Talks

Oldham Athletic are still looking to find the replacement for Frankie Bunn, who they sacked on 27th December, and have now begun talks with former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes. Scholes, who grew up an Oldham fan, has not managed in the league before, the closest he has come was when he was on the Man Utd staff on a temporary basis under Ryan Giggs after David Moyes was sacked in 2014. This is the second time Scholes has been in the running for the Oldham job after being interviewed for the same job in October 2017.

Sarri Criticises His Players

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has criticised his players as "extremely difficult to motivate" after the defeat by Arsenal. Sarri said in his post-match press conference, in which he spoke in his native Italian "to send a message to my players" said: "I'm really angry about the approach that we adopted today. It's an approach we can't really accept. I have to say, I'm extremely angry. Very angry indeed. This defeat was due to our mentality, more than anything else. This is something I can't accept. This group of players are extremely difficult to motivate. This is not a team that is going to be well known for its battling qualities but we need to become a team that is capable of adapting, possibly suffering for 10 or 15 minutes then playing our own football. You can find yourself in difficulties from time to time, but we need to react to those difficulties a lot better than we did today. You have to influence them. It could be about a new player coming in or one of the old heads taking control. A player at this level can't be afraid to face up to their responsibilities. The best thing that can happen is that the players and I talk very openly about what happens. I am the person responsible for the players and it is important for them to have the attitude. If they can't then maybe they shouldn't be playing at this level."

Milan Leave Out Higuain

With the Argentine striker close to joining Chelsea instead, AC Milan have left Gonzalo Higuain out of their squad to face Genoa. Milan's coach, Gennaro Gattuso said: "We had a poor training session today because of all these rumours. We spoke after the training session and I did not consider him ready. Speculation disrupted preparations. Right now we have to work with professionalism and determination, all these rumours have not helped us lately and we have to look ahead." Higuain is currently on loan with Milan from Juventus for the season.

Henry In Foul Mouthed Rant At Strasbourg Player

AS Monaco's head coach Thierry Henry could be set for trouble with the French footballing authorities after microphones for broadcaster Canal Plus caught him out insulting Strasbourg's defender Kenny Lala over timewasting, as his Monaco team slid to a 5-1 defeat. Henry claimed after the game that he merely told Lala to stop, but Canal Plus published a clip of the incident on social media which revealed him telling Lala that "it's the 43rd minute" and then "oh, come on, stop now, it's enough," before using a French insult which roughly translates as grandson of a bitch or your grandmother is a whore. Henry has since apologised saying: "Yes, I regret these words. It's not the first time. Sometimes I do it in English. I just reacted, I'm sorry, yes, but I'm only human."
