Transfers

Teenage striker Antoine Semenyo has returned to Bristol City after they cut his loan to Newport County short.

Bakary Sako has returned to Crystal Palace on a short-term deal. The 30 year old was released from his West Bromwich Albion contract so that he could make a return to his former club.

AS Monaco have taken Portugese winger Gelson Martins on loan from Atletico Madrid.

Real Betis have loaned young forward Antonio Sanabria to Genoa.

Former Newcastle United flop Sylvain Marveaux has moved to Nancy on loan from Lorient.

Cameroon's League Under Boycott

The syndicate of elite clubs (SYCEC) and Cameroon's Professional Football League (LFPC) are in dispute which has led to the SYCEC to call for a boycott of the league, which was due to begin at the weekend. Instead the two teams, Eding Sports of Lekie and Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda, which were meant to be kicking it off on Saturday stayed at home. Yong Sports chairman Jacques Yong stated: "In solidarity with the trade union of elite clubs, we wouldn't travel to Yaoundé to kick off the championship. The decision was taken solely in the interest of our football and in all integrity. The decision has been taken because last minute attempts to solve the problems plaguing our elite football have failed." SYCEC leader Frank Happi said: "It's outrageous to imagine that the league president wants the first and second division tournaments to start when clubs aren't aware of the amount they will receive as subvention. Clubs weren't sure when the championship was supposed to start and so most of them kept their teams together, paying out training bonuses regularly. It's only fair for them to know how much they will get before stepping on the pitch. The teams are ready and want to play football but everything isn't right for the league to start. Most of the country's top stadiums are being renovated or constructed and the question as to where games will be staged has remained unanswered. These uncertainties make us think it's not reasonable starting the championship now."

South Sudan To Play In Uganda

South Sudan's Football Association (SSFA) have announced that their country's 'home' games will be played in Uganda while their national stadium is reconstructed. Their first game in Uganda is set to be played in March, when they face Tunisia in a 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Millwall Fans Once Again Get The Club In Trouble

While the FA are refusing to act over the disgraceful scenes which saw a man slashed across the face prior to Millwall's FA Cup tie with Everton, because it was outside the ground, they are at least set to take action against Millwall fans over the disgusting racist chanting that was heard during the game. Millwall claim a "long and proud record of anti-discrimination work" and somehow won family club of the year in 2017, but still they are widely known for the section of their fanbase that is there purely to cause problems. At least this time the FA are not sweeping their actions under the carpet, like they do on a weekly basis in the league.

Morata Set For Spain Return

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has revealed that he has passed a medical ahead of a move to Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan deal. The Spanish striker has only been at Chelsea for 18 unhappy months after leaving the other Madrid side, Real Madrid, to join the Blues on a move that was then a club record. Morata was initially at Atletico as a youngster, before making a move across to Real and said: "The past is the past, and it cannot be changed, and I'm very proud of it. I am looking forward to everything being completed so I can start training with my team-mates. I began my career at Atletico and the people who know where I come from and know my history know what this means for me."

Gunners Face More Defensive Problems

While Arsenal had some good news regarding defenders, when it was revealed Laurent Koscielny had not broken his jaw as first feared, there was bad news regarding Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos. While Koscielny has just suffered bruising, Sokratis's ankle injury will keep him out for a month.

Magpies Owner Quits Twitter

The owner of both Notts County and Ilkeston Town, Alan Hardy, has deleted his Twitter accounts after accidentally posting an "inappropriate photo" in a screenshot. Hardy had posted up a screenshot of tweets from a fan which included his phone's camera roll in the shot. The camera roll featured an 'intimate' picture, which has led him to leave Twitter. Hardy said: "Thank you to everyone who continues to support me through what has been a very difficult time. Later this evening I will be deleting my account as I feel this is in the best interests of the football club, my family and myself."

Perisic Asks For Transfer

Inter Milan director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request. Marotta told television: "Perisic has asked to leave but there is no offer for him. We will see in the coming days. Many players ask for a transfer. Perisic has expressed this desire, we must try to satisfy him, respecting the asset value that the player has for the club."
