Newcastle Under 23 Player Gets Liberia Call Up

After finally getting his residence papers in the UK sorted, Newcastle United's Mohammed Sangare should be set to make his long awaited Liberia debut, despite the importance of the final African Cup of Nations qualifying match. With all four teams in Group G in with a chance of making the finals with one game to go, a win would ensure Liberia are one of the two teams that will qualify.
Liberia squad:

Defenders: Alvin Marccornel and Aloysius Simujla (LPRC Oilers); Teah Dennis and Eugene Swen (Barrack Young Controllers); Gasimu Sheikh Kouyateh (Pags FC), Kemoh Kamara (LISCR FC), Joel Johnson Alajarin (Charlotte Independence, USA)

Madrid Start Work On Signing Mbappe

After Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane publicly stated his liking for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, the club's media pals have begun the job of unsettling him, in the time-honoured tapping up tradition of Madrid. It started with a report in AS, which revealed a fine that both Mbappe and team-mate Adrien Rabiot were hit with back in October. The pair were fined 180,000 euros each after arriving late for a team meeting ahead of a game against Marseille in Ligue 1.

Moutinho Reveals He Missed Out On Spurs Deadline Day Deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Moutinho has revealed that back in 2012 he signed a deal to join Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day but was unable to complete the deal as he signed just a minute too late. Moutinho said: "It's been close before but it was my mission to play in the Premier League. I've had one or two opportunities in the past. The first was Everton, the second Spurs. I am in the room but the next day I had a game in Portugal, it didn't happen, it was one minute from happening... I had actually signed but it was one minute past the deadline. You carry on, you continue to do what you like and what I like to do is to play football. I feel very good now. I have fresh legs. I tell people who ask me if I'm old that I'm 32 but I feel I can play 10 more years."

German Club To Wear Anti-Fascist Jerseys

After Israeli captain Almog Cohen received anti-semitic abuse, Bundesliga 2 side Ingolstadt will wear jerseys with a message reading: "Right-wing? Only in a 4-3-3!" on the front. Cohen has been receiving messages on social media saying he should be sent "to the chamber".

Schalke Manager Gives Strange Apology To 4th Official

Huub Stevens has returned to Schalke 04 as their coach, after the sacking of Domenico Tedesco, and the veteran, who is a legend of the club, opened his new reign with a game against RB Leipzig on Saturday. Unfortunately for Stevens, his side lost 1-0 and included the usual lambasting of the 4th official that every manager seems to do these days. The veteran manager clearly felt bad for giving the poor guy a tongue lashing as he stopped, thought about what he was doing then went back to the bench and got a sweet for the 4th official which he then put in the official's hand.

Schalke Appoint Asamaoh

Former German international Gerald Asamoah will be taking over from Stevens, who will stay on as his assistant. The Ghanaian played 328 times for Schalke in his playing career. If he is sitting next to Stevens on the bench, let's hope he has a sweet tooth...

Pitch Invasions Mar Saturday Games

Two of the games in England were marred by fan arrests for encroaching on the pitch yesterday. Seven Newcastle United fans were arrested, including a 14 year old boy, on suspicion of encroaching on the field of play following former Bournemouth player Matt Ritchie's stoppage-time equaliser. Police are also investigating whether a steward was assaulted, after she was left with a nose injury. A Dorset Police statement read: "Six men and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of going onto the playing area at a football match from the away supporters' stand and are assisting officers with their inquiries. One female steward sustained an injury to her nose during the incident and investigations are under way to establish whether any assault took place." Three more people were arrested for pitch encroachment in the Swansea City match against Manchester City in the FA Cup. Though the officials had managed to make sure that game was ruined, with two terrible decisions handing a 3-2 victory to the Mancunians.
