Review of the Day

Contracts

Hibernian have handed pair David Gray and Darren McGregor new contracts which run until 2023. Both players were due to be out of contract in the summer but new manager Paul Heckingbottom has made the pair a regular in his team.

Nigeria Helping Arsenal Youth

Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali has been stranded in Nigeria since playing in a 2020 Olympic's qualifier for the country due to the lack of visa to return to Portugal, where he is on loan with Porto's B team. Nwakali had a single-entry visa for Portugal and needs a new visa to return but the visa has still to be sorted. The Nigerian Football Federation's director of communications Ademola Olajire said: "The federation has been working hard to get his visa sorted as quickly as possible, but it's taken longer than expected. We hope it will come out after the Easter break to enable Nwakali return to Portugal."

Sterling To Pay For Funeral

Raheem Sterling is to pay for the funeral of a young Crystal Palace youth player called Damary Dawkins who died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia aged just 13. Sterling said: "Damary was a special young man who touched a lot of lives, including my own." Sterling had worn a t-shirt as a tribute to Dawkins, when he scored his 2nd goal against the Czech Republic for England, he lifted his shirt to reveal a picture of the two together. Dawkins' father Tony said: "I knew they used to speak because [Sterling] came down to the hospital. They played pool together and apparently they swapped numbers. I remember when Crystal Palace played Manchester City and they lost - Damary put on his tracksuit with the Crystal Palace badge and took a picture to send to Raheem. They had banter with each other."

Chelsea Lose Hudson-Odoi To Injury

Chelsea's young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has had his season ended early after picking up a ruptured Achilles tendon in the 2-2 draw with Burnley. The 18 year old was taken off in the 41st minute of his 24 appearance of the season. Hudson-Odoi said on social media: "Really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles, gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season!"

Luis Hits Out At Burnley

Chelsea defender David Luiz has hit out at Burnley's style of 'anti-football' served up in the 2-2 draw on Monday night. Assistant coach Gianfranco Zola was also critical of their time-wasting saying: "Five minutes injury time wasn't enough to compensate. We expected it to be a tough game. We didn't expect so much time-wasting. We expected the referee to give more extra time. That's why we're very unhappy." Burnley keeper Tom Heaton was given the earliest yellow card for time-wasting by a goalkeeper in 5 years, as he was booked in the 32nd minute. There were also a number of Burnley players stopping play towards the end as they were treated for 'cramp'. Luiz complained: "It's anti-football. Losing time all the time, especially when you have the ball. Their players went to the floor and stopped the game. They were playing 11 inside the box. It's difficult to score against a team like that. It's difficult when you play against a team who have two chances and score two goals and didn't want to play the game."

Roar Turn To God

Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar have appointed Robbie Fowler as their new manager. The 44 year old former England international had a short spell in charge of a team in Thailand, Muangthong United back in 2011-12, but otherwise has no managerial experience. Fowler had been working as a coach at Liverpool's Academy, along with acting as an ambassador for the club he represented for a large portion of his career.
