Irish left back Stephen Ward is leaving Burnley in the summer.

Veteran Czech midfielder Jaroslav Plasil will become a free agent soon as his Girondins Bordeaux expires in the summer and is not being renewed.

Crystal Palace are releasing Jason Puncheon.

 

McIntyre Leaves Dundee

After his Dundee team suffered relegation from the SPFL manager Jim McIntyre has left the club, despite saying least week his job was safe. A Dundee statement said: "Dundee Football Club can confirm that Jim McIntyre and Jimmy Boyle have left the club with immediate effect."

 

Abdellaoui Has Heart Op

Algerian international defender Ayoub Abdellaoui is doubtful for next month's AFCON tournament in Egypt after the 26 year old underwent an operation to cure a heart problem. Abdellaoui, who plays for FC Sion in Switzerland's top flight, has not played for 2 weeks and will miss the final two weeks of the Swiss season. Sion explained: "The player in question suffers from a cardiac electrical anomaly that could cause an arrhythmia. For this reason, a preventive intervention by catheter is strictly advised to avoid these problems and will be realised in the next days so that the defender is in the best possible dispositions next season. FC Sion wish him a speedy recovery."

 

Toure Denies Retiring

Despite his agent, Dimitri Seluk, saying that Yaya Toure had retired from playing football, Yaya denies that he has retired. Yaya said: "There has been a lot of confusion about my future recently. I want to make it clear here that I love football and I'm still in contention to play for a few more years. Yes, I'm starting to prepare myself for coaching badges but full-time coaching is not what I'm thinking now. I am now ready and focused to take new challenges in playing football. And don't worry, once the time has come I will announce my retirement personally and officially by myself." Toure has not played since December 2018, when he was released by Olympiakos.

 

Hertha Turn To Covic

Hertha Berlin are promoting their under-23 coach Ante Covic to take charge of the first team for next season, to replace Pal Dardai, who leaves in the summer. Dardai took charge in February 2015, after Jos Luhukay left, and saved the club from relegation that season. Since then he lad Hertha to finish 7th, 6th and then 10th. Hertha are currently 10th again this season.

 

Alaba Denies Bribery Report

Bayern Munich's Austrian international, Vienna-born son of a Nigerian father and Filipina mother, David Alaba has denied reports that he was asked to bribe his way into the Nigeria U-17 team back in 2007. It was claimed that Bayern Munich had revealed that Alaba had been asked to buy his way into the team but Alaba says it never happened. Alaba told Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba: "No! They didn't demand money from me. It's fake news."

 

Barca Fans Jeer Own Team

Barcelona fans have not accepted their defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League yet and booed and jeered their own team in the 2-0 win over Getafe. In particular Coutinho, who they signed from Liverpool, took the brunt of the abuse, with even his name being read out over the tannoy being jeered and booed. His every touch received similar treatment from the Barcelona fans who also reserved stick for a number of other players, including Ivan Rakitic and Sergi Busquets. Lionel Messi had faced a mixed reception on his way home from the game, with some Barca fans abusing him at the airport as he went to catch his flight home.

 

Pogba Also Faces Abuse From Fans

Some Manchester United fans have abused Paul Pogba as he left the field following the final day 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City. Pogba shrugged his shoulders and gave a thumbs up sign to supporters as they shouted he was "f*****g s**t" and should "show some respect". The defeat left United in 6th place in the Premier League.
