Thoughts On The Season and What Nottingham Forest Need To Do In The Summer

Here's my thoughts on the season and what Nottingham Forest need to do in the summer.
This season has been tough, riddled with inconsistent performances. These performances haven't all been bad as there were some standout performances, which showed glimpses of our potential.

Defensively we've been a mixed bag, prior to Christmas we struggled with having a settled back line with injuries and managerial decisions playing a large factor. This improved after January with a couple of good signings, in particular Milosevic, who I think is a quality centre half. However, we still conceded some sloppy goals.

The midfield like the defence was never settled with many changes each week. This was further hampered with Martin O'Neill not knowing his best team in the second half of the season (although it was easy to see who he wanted to stay in the later stages of the season).

The front line; well, Murphy is no good, he had a few good games where you think he should play every week, but he's not got the consistent quality for this team. Grabban has been inconsistent but has still managed to score goals, so with a more settled team next season he should score 20+ goals easily. Karim looks a good player with his movement and his finishing seems tidy enough, good backup imo, but he needs to prove himself over next season though.

The stand out performers for me were; Robinson, who looks to be a good left back and good left centre back in a back three. Colback, needs to be signed permanently if he lowers his wage demands. He's easily one of the best in his position in this division. Carvalho is our most creative player and the team needs to be built around him and the next player who's been immense, Joe Lolley. This guy wow, even when he has off moments he's still our best player.

As for who we should sign:
Westwood - proven keeper in this league, him and Costel Pantilimon (Pants) gives us great options. Though I feel Pants will be hard done by as he's looked good with a better quality and slightly more settled back line.

RB - Byram on loan again, very good player at this level if he can stay fit.

CB - need to go for a really quality centre back, I'd look at Gibson from Burnley. One of the best cbs at this level. Hasn't played much for Burnley and we should definitely look at him.

LB - Bidwell, free transfer from Queens Park Rangers could be a similar good signing like Robinson.

CDM - Colback permanently and someone in the mould of Lansbury who can do a bit of everything. Not sure who though. (Not Lansbury though).

Winger - i'd look at signing Liverpool's Ryan Kent, who looks to be a really good player. Had a few decent performances in a Liverpool shirt and has certainly done well at Glasgow Rangers this season. Would be a quality singing.

CAM - Adam Reach, can play on the wing and behind the striker(s), would be an astute signing.

Striker - Very unlikely to happen, but maybe Dominic Solanke on loan. Would be quality at this level, physical, decent pace, decent on the ball and knows where the goal is. A more realistic target would be Nelson Oliveira, similar to Solanke and proven at this level. I'd have him back at the City Ground happily.

Thank you.
