Contracts

Italian goalkeeper Alessio Cragno has signed a long term deal with Cagliari which runs until 2024.

Steven Caulker is continuing his Turkish adventure after agreeing a new 2 year deal.

 

Transfers

Young VfL Wolfsburg left-back Gian-Luca Itter is joining SC Freiburg.

Barcelona full-back Marc Cucurella is moving to SD Eibar for under £2m.

Former Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar is leaving CD Leganes.

Torino's Brazilian left-back Danilo Avelar is returning to Brazil to sign for Corinthians for less than £2m.

Former Hull City striker Abel Hernandez is being released by CSKA Moscow.

Tony Watt is joining Bulgarian league side CSKA Sofia after failing to agree a new deal with St Johnstone.

Hiram Boateng is stepping up to League One to sign for MK Dons on a free transfer from Exeter City. Exeter will receive compensation due to Boateng's age. Coming in to Exeter is defender Tom Parkes from League Two rivals Carlisle United.

 

Morocco Call Up Record Breaker Hamdallah

After he broke the all-time record for goals scored in a Saudi Arabian season, Abderrazak Hamdallah has returned to the Moroccan squad named by Herve Renard for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Johansen Acquitted

The president of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Isha Johansen, has been cleared of corruption by a high court in Freetown. She was standing for trial alongside SLFA general secretary Christopher Kamara, who was also acquitted of all charges.

 

Union Reach Promised Land

Union Berlin have reached the Bundesliga for the first time in their history. They beat VfB Stuttgart in a play-off after Stuttgart finished 16th in the top flight. Union are the 5th Berlin side to reach the Bundesliga and join Koln and Paderborn in being promoted from the second tier.

Villa Return To The Prem

Aston Villa have beaten Derby County 2-1 in the Championship play-off final to secure a top flight return. Villa lost out to Fulham in last season's final.

 

Newcastle Takeover Talks Confirmed

Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan's investment group have confirmed that they are in takeover talks with Newcastle United in an attempt to buy it from Mike Ashley. The Sheikh is a cousin of Manchester City's majority owner Sheikh Mansour. A Bin Zayed Group statement read: "We can confirm the representatives of his Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan are in discussions with Mike Ashley and his team about the proposed acquisition of Newcastle United Football Club. We view it as an honour to have the opportunity to build on the strong support, history and tradition of the club."
