Neymar Pushes For Barca Return

Neymar Jr is doing his level best to push through a move back to Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain, without handing in a transfer request and losing his 5% cut of the transfer fee. He is certainly not endearing himself to PSG fans with images of himself in a Barca shirt on InstaTwit as well as telling an interview that his best memory in football was beating PSG 6-1 while with Barca. Neymar said: "My best memory as a footballer? When we won against PSG with FC Barcelona. What we felt when we scored the sixth goal I never felt something like this, it was incredible. Best memory in the locker room? Ah, I don't know. Well, when we won against PSG with Barcelona it was completely... we all went crazy afterwards! I believe it was the best possible feeling for all of us."

Rami Suspended Over Game Show

Marseille have suspended Pamela Anderson's ex-boyfriend Adil Rami after an internal investigations into his actions. Rami was injured in May and told the club he needed time off to deal with a personal matter. The personal matter turned out to be an appearance slime wrestling on French TV game show Fort Boyard. Rami is being made to train on his own during pre-season as a punishment.

Exiles Lose Azeez

Newport County will be without their striker Adebayo Azeez for six months after he tore an Achilles tendon. Azeez only joined the Welsh club in January from Cambridge and suffered the injury in pre-season training.

Montero Faces Work Permit Issues

Swansea City's Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero looks certain to leave the Championship club as the 29 year old faces work permit issues which are unlikely to be resolved due to a lack of regular football in the last year. Montero is currently waiting at home in Ecuador for his work permit hearing but the Swans have not issued him with a squad number, making it clear they do not expect the jet-heeled winger to return. They do have a possible replacement lined up, as former Tottenham Hotspur winger Nathan Oduwa is on trial.

African Champions League Row Rumbles On

The mess that was the second leg of the African Champions League final is still unresolved as both finalists have lodged appeals at the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the decision to replay the second leg. Both Esperance of Tunisia and Morocco's Wydad Casablanca are claiming to be the rightful winner of the final and asking CAS to declare them as such and award them the prize money.

McBurnie Bid Rejected

Swansea City have rejected a bid from Sheffield United for Scottish striker Oli McBurnie, their top scorer with 24 goals last season. The Blades are looking to strengthen their side to remain in the Premier League, having won promotion last season and have already broken their transfer record within the last week. The McBurnie bid was double that transfer fee.

Bielsa Not With Leeds Side In Oz

Manager Marcelo Bielsa has stayed behind in England when the Leeds United first team travelled to Australia for a couple of pre-season friendlies and will be absent when they take on Manchester United in Perth tomorrow. Leeds have said the Argentine has stayed behind to work with those players who missed the initial pre-season work due to being away on international duty or being new signings, as none of those players have gone on the long-distance trip. Leeds captain Liam Cooper said: "Marcelo wants to work with the lads he has brought in and the lads who came back a bit later. They are doing the fitness work they missed out on when we were there. It is normal. We have an experienced group and we just get on with our jobs."

Investigation Exposes Ahmad Expenses Claims

A BBC investigation into CAF president Ahmad has claimed that he received two sets of expenses, claiming to be in two different countries at the same time during the 2018 World Cup. According to the BBC he has signed two documents, one claiming to be in Egypt and one stating he was in Russia for daily expenses. It is possible that he also received a third payment for the period from FIFA. FIFA's ethics committee and French anti-corruption authorities are also investigating Ahmad.

Serial Quitter Quits Wednesday

Steve Bruce has once more quit a job in management as he leaves Sheffield Wednesday after receiving interest from Newcastle United. Bruce only took charge of the Owls in February, despite being appointed in January, and has already walked out on them, like he has done to so many other clubs in his exceedingly average managerial career. Newcastle, when he does officially take charge there, will be the 11th club he has managed in a career spent walking out on clubs, usually after a good moan about lack of transfer funds.

Casillas Given Coaching Role

Legendary Spanish keeper Iker Casillas has been given a coaching role at Porto while he recovers from a heart attack he suffered just two months ago in training. The 38 year old had reported back for pre-season training as normal but will now "ensure the connection between the players, the coach and management".
