Transfers

Ajax have paid £13.5m to Mexican Liga MX side America for Mexican centre back Edson Alvarez.

MLS side Columbus Crew have signed free agent Moroccan left winger Youness Mokhtar. American keeper Joe Bendik has left the Crew to sign for Philadelphia Union.

LOSC Lille have spent nearly £6m on Croatian full back Domagoj Bradaric from Hajduk Split.

Spanish striker Cristo has left Real Madrid to join Udinese.

Michael Morrison has made a free transfer move to Reading from Birmingham City.

Young Spanish midfielder Manu Garcia has joined Sporting Gijon from Manchester City for a fee of under £4m.

Former Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint has joined Cardiff City from Middlesbrough for a fee of just under £6m. Leaving Cardiff is Danish striker Kenneth Zohore who has joined West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee. Also leaving Cardiff is their defender Bruno Ecuele Manga to join Dijon for just under £2m.

Marseille have taken Alvaro Gonzalez on loan from Villareal.

Valencia have given Nacho Gil a free transfer to Ponferradina.

Ivory Coast forward Mamadou Kone has joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan from Leganes.

RB Salzburg have signed Danish right-back Rasmus Kristensen from Ajax for £4.5m.

Luton Town have paid just £1.5m for HNK Rijeka goalkeeper Simon Sluga.

Genoa defender Koray Gunter has joined Verona on loan.

Uruguayan winger Adrian Luna has moved to Melbourne City from Mexican Liga MX side Tiburones Rojos.

Salomon Rondon has followed Rafa Benitez to Dalian Yifang for just over £16m from West Bromwich Albion.

Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Schiappacasse has joined Famalicao.

Scott Wilson has moved from Macclesfield Town on a free transfer to Oldham Athletic.

Dan Jones has joined Cambridge United after a trial following his release from Notts County.

Queens Park Rangers striker Paul Smyth has signed for Wycombe Wanderers on loan for the season.

Barnsley have paid an undisclosed fee for striker Conor Chaplin from Coventry City.

St Mirren have released Josh Heaton.

 

Wydad Appoint Manojlovic

Zoran Manojlovic has taken over from Faouzi Benzarti as Wydad Casablanca's head coach. Benzarti has moved to Etoile du Sahel after guiding Wydad to their 20th league title and to the Champions League final which ended in controversy. Manojlovic was previously in charge of Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto who he took to the African Champions League semi-finals.

 

Mousset Has Medical

French striker Lys Mousset has had a medical with Sheffield United ahead of a £10m move from Bournemouth. The 23 year old has struggled to hold down a first team place at the Cherries and will be the Blades 5th signing of the summer.

 

Guardiola Wants to Keep Sane

Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola has told a press conference that he wants to keep winger Leroy Sane at the club. Guardiola said: "Leroy is our player and hopefully he can stay." Pep also dismissed Bayern's interest as just talk, saying of it: "For a long time they talk about their interest."

 

Conte Admits Interest In Lukaku

Inter Milan's new manager Antonio Conte has told a press conference that he would like the club to sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. Conte said: "You know I like this player. In the past when I was Chelsea's coach [from 2016 to 2018] I tried to bring him to Chelsea. As I said before, I like this player and consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement but at the same there is a transfer market. We know very well which is our situation at the moment and we will see what happens but for now Lukaku is a United player." Lukaku has not played for Manchester United on their pre-season tour of Australia, as their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he is injured.

 

Algeria Win AFCON

A lucky deflection on a shot by Baghdad Bounedjah has given Algeria the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time in the nation's history. Senegal, who were aiming for their first ever win in the competition, did have a penalty awarded to them, only for it to be overturned by VAR after a review.
