Review of the Day

Contracts

Portland Timbers keeper Steve Clark has signed a 1 year deal.

Racing Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure has signed a deal which runs until 2024.

Ryan Meara has signed a 1 year deal with New York Red Bulls.

Injury Round-Up

Former Manchester United defender Daley Blind has been diagnosed with a heart condition. The Ajax and Holland defender suffered dizziness during a Champions League game against Valencia earlier this month. The 29 year old has been "diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation" and fitted with a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which sends electrical pulses to regulate abnormal heart rhythms, specifically those that can be dangerous and cause a cardiac arrest. It is not known when he will return to training.

Paul Pogba has returned to the Manchester United squad after ankle surgery and then illness.

Bayern Munich defender/midfielder Javi Martinez has been ruled out with a muscle injury. Interim manager Hansi Flick said: "Javi will be unavailable for at least six weeks, it's a major muscle injury. It's very bitter."

Hibs Looking For Bottle Thrower

Hibernian are reviewing CCTV footage to try and identify the person who threw a glass bottle at Rangers defender Borna Barisic on Friday. Barisic was on the ground after a challenge by Hibs' Ryan Porteous when objects landed near him, including the glass bottle. Hibs installed a new security system in the summer after there were incidents at their ground last season. Hibs head coach Jack Ross said: "I can't get my head around why anyone would throw a glass bottle at another human. I just don't get it. There are people who argue that behaviours on the pitch or around the pitch affect that. That's garbage. Someone who does that deserves the consequences that come with it."

Everton Get Carlo

Carlo Ancelotti has signed a 4 and a half year deal to manage Everton. The 60 year old Italian was sacked by Napoli earlier this month and replaces Marco Silva. Caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson is to stay on the staff as part of Ancelotti's backroom staff.

World Cup Winner Passes Away

West Ham United legend and World Cup winner with England Martin Peters has died at the age of 76. Peters was one of the goalscorers for England in the 1966 World Cup final and won the European Cup Winners Cup with the Hammers before becoming Britain's first ever £200,000 player when he joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he added two League Cups and a UEFA Cup to his trophy collection.

Red Star Name New Head Coach

Former Serbia, Inter Milan, Lazio and Red Star Belgrade midfielder Dejan Stankovic has taken his first head coach role with former team Red Star Belgrade. Stankovic had been working as an assistant at Udinese but stepped in to replace Vladan Milojevic, who quit the Serbian champs citing fatigue.

Montella Sacked

Fiorentina have given Vincenzo Montella the boot following a defeat to AS Roma. La Viola are sat in 14th after a 4-1 defeat made it five losses in six Serie A games. Montella replaced Stefano Pioli in April but has struggled, in part due to the lengthy absence of summer signing Frank Ribery.
