Injury Round-Up

Blackburn Rovers' Northern Ireland international midfielder Corry Evans has undergone surgery on a skull fracture. The 29 year old suffered frontal lobe and eye socket fractures during his 200th Blackburn appearance. Manager Tony Mowbray said: "He had his operation. It went very well. He is going to spend 10-14 days in his own environment with his family. The surgeon said that it went as well as it could have gone. Eventually, at some stage he will get back to heading foam footballs to get his confidence back to use his head. We will give him all the time he needs. The injury will hopefully take care of itself, mend well, and he'll have the confidence to come back soon. I think he's had a really good spell with the Northern Ireland set-up and achieved some good things with them."

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is to have a scan on his ankle after hurting it against Bournemouth in the FA Cup 4th round. Manager Mikel Arteta said: "I hope I'm wrong but when a central defender is taken off on a stretcher it is not usually good. We will find out more in the next days and we will assess it."

Soucek Has Medical

Slavia Prague midfielder Tomas Soucek is having a West Ham United medical ahead of signing for the Hammers. Slavia revealed the 24 year old would be making a Czech league record transfer if the deal goes through. West Ham manager David Moyes said: "We are in a difficult period where we need experienced players. At the moment he [Soucek] ticks a lot of boxes. We need to give him an opportunity and time to settle in. He fits the profile of the player I want."

Staying In Prem Absolute Necessity

After revealing losses of £27.26m for the year ending 31st May 2019, West Ham United have said that remaining in the Premier League is "an absolute necessity". Joint owner David Sullivan said: "The board made a decision at the beginning of 2018 to embark on an investment programme that would involve bringing in a world class manager, investing in better players and making significant investment in the club's infrastructure. We now believe we have one of the strongest squads and management teams in the Premier League." Unfortunately the note attached to the accounts refers to Mauricio Pellegrini, as it was written in October when the Hammers were flying high in the league.
