Gerrard Needs To Think After Cup Exit

After his Rangers team lost to Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals has left Steven Gerrard without a trophy and 12 points behind Celtic in the league, Gerrard said he needs to think. Gerrard said: "I just need to think. I am feeling pain right now because I want to win here, I am desperate to win here. Looking from the side today, I didn't get the impression that the feeling amongst my players was the same. I am not doubting myself. We have given these players everything, me and my staff have given these players absolutely everything for 20 months, held their hand on and off the pitch and improved everything for them. But it is tough when every other performance you feel the way you feel. It is tough. I need to analyse myself, for sure. This is the toughest moment I have had since I have come here. I think it will be extremely difficult in the short-term (to win trophies) because of where we lie from a league point of view. We all know that we have punched above our weight in Europe so far. This is what I need to analyse in the coming days. The plan was to have a day off (on Sunday). I need to think hard about where we are at as a group. I need to do some real, serious thinking in the next 24, 48 hours."

Unlucky Keeper Hit By Coin

Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal must be amongst the unluckiest players in the modern game. The 34 year old Czech goalkeeper was hit in the chest by a coin thrown from the crowd during the Scottish Cup win over Rangers. Video footage also shows another coin narrowly missing him as he is taking a goal kick. Zlamal has previously faced a coin thrown at him by a Celtic fan and been punched during an Edinburgh derby by a Hibernian fan.

CR7 And Dybala Caught Out On Camera

Juventus' strike duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala have been caught on camera complaining about their midfield backing during the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Olympique Lyonnaise. The pair were recorded by RMC Sport's cameras saying:
CR: "We are left alone out there, the midfielders are giving us no support."
PD: "Nobody is getting the ball."
CR: "I know, not even the second balls, nothing."

Hopp Hits Back At Idiots

Hoffenheim's billionaire owner Dietmar Hopp has hit back at the "idiots" who keep abusing him at matches. Hopp has been targeted with a number of banners in recent weeks, which picture his face in crosshairs, Borussia Dortmund fans, Bayern Munich fans and Union Berlin are just some of the fans who have unfurled such banners at matches in recent weeks. Hopp said: "If I remotely knew what these idiots wanted from me, it would be all the easier for me to understand. I can't explain why they are so hostile towards me. It reminds me of very dark times. I don't want to talk to these people. It's pointless. They live in another world. I don't want to and I can't talk to them, not at all. I don't know what to say to them. Why shouldn't I go to the stadium anymore? The people who do this are the ones who should stay away."

Juve Under 23s Quarantined

After an opposing team's players have been discovered to have coronavirus, the entire Juventus under-23 team has been placed in quarantine and training suspended. Four members of Serie C opponents Pianese have been confirmed to have contracted the virus, so far the Juve team have shown no symptoms.
