Injury Round-Up

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he is suffering from pain in his right ankle. The 21 year old had only just returned from an injury suffered in the Coupe de France in August and was playing for France in their 1-0 win over Sweden before picking up the injury. Mbappe said: "It hurts a bit. I took a knock, but it will get better and better so it's fine. We will recover well to be better against Croatia. We are going to work. It's the coach who will decide if I play."

County Hope To Host Fans

Scottish club Ross County are hoping to trial a return to football by fans at their game against Celtic on 12th September. County chairman Roy MacGregor is hoping that between 300 and 500 fans will be allowed to attend: "Everything from our end is there to make it happen, so we're just waiting for the final nod. Nothing has been officially confirmed. We were hoping to hear on Wednesday or Thursday but the government has had a lot on their plate. Hopefully, we will get the call on Monday. Just to have some fans in the ground will be a joy." Aberdeen are also hoping to be allowed to run test events, with their matches against Kilmarnock and Motherwell the intended games. The Dons are hoping for 300 to be at the former match and 750 the latter.

AFCON Trophy Missing

The Egyptian FA have found that their original African Cup of Nations trophy, which they were given for winning the tournament for the third time in 2010, is missing from the storeroom it had been kept in. The EFA moved the trophies to the storeroom in 2013 but have no idea how recently since then they vanished! The current belief is that it was in that year the trophy, along with a number of other trophies that are also missing, were taken or destroyed when angry fans invaded the EFA during violence in Cairo.

Fati Becomes Youngest

Barcelona's teenage wunderkind Ansu Fati has become the youngest player ever to start a UEFA Nations League match after starting for Spain against Ukraine in Madrid. Fati is 17 years and 311 days, beating the previous record held by Chelsea's Welsh defender/midfielder Ethan Ampadu, who was 17 years and 357 days old when he set the record.

Thiago Muddies The Waters

Bayern Munich's star midfielder Thiago Alcantara has claimed that he is not thinking about leaving the German and European champions despite all the rumours circulating. Thiago told a news conference ahead of Spain's Nations League game: "I have never said that I am leaving Bayern. Every year you [journalists] put me at a different club. For me, my future is tomorrow's game and there is nothing more to say. I neither care nor am I interested [in the speculation]. What interests me is tomorrow."

Garcia Would Take Depay To Barca

Lyon's manager Memphis Depay has told Spanish TV station Telefoot that he would drive the Dutch forward to Barcelona himself. Garcia said: "Depay is a top player, a fantastic footballer, [one] who has just returned from a cruciate ligament operation. If he stays with us, we will be a much stronger team. If Memphis, like many other players in my squad, and there are quite a few, has the opportunity to play in a team that has been built to win the Champions League, I would drive him to Barcelona myself. They are talking about the interest in signing Memphis, but they also remember that Luis Suarez has not yet rescinded his contract with Barcelona. And a few days ago we discussed the departure of a small left-hander who, finally, remains in the Barca team. There is no space to incorporate another player."
